Is Civic Si really expensive to insure?

I just read at a Sentra spec V site that a Civic Si would cost over $3000 to insure while the Sentra spec V only costs like half of that......I used to drive a Sti and the insurance was killing me. I still wanted a fun to drive car but now I would pay more attention to monthly payments and insurance etc. Do you all suffer from high insurance premium on your Si?

Age, car, coverage amounts, deductible, location, driving record, and credit history are the biggest variables for insurance.

Like the 2 other people said, it depends on the age, driving record....etc... I can tell you this, I pay less than 1500 a year for full coverage on my 08 Si Sedan. Best thing I can tell you is to call your insurance company and get a quote or something.

yeah its depends on a lot of factors but from experience. I'm actually paying less than I was for my old spec V... My insurance is $135 a month with a 2007 SI

I just upgraded from a 06 EX Sedan to a 08 Si Sedan. My insurance didn't change at all. My agent told me that they (State Farm) consider the Si Sedan, just another Civic? Now if I would have bought the Mugen Si, my rates would have gone up over $100 a month. I'm guessing it's just because of ride height, body kit, and the wheels?

I'm also 33 with a good driving record though.

Rates for my 08 si sedan are over $200 per year LESS than for my 03 si!
In fact my 03 si was about $100 more to insure than my wifes $30k subaru legacy gt lmtd turbo monster wagon and it's 2 years newer! I paid $16.5k for the 03 si (brand new) but had to pay out the *** to insure it!

Sentra spec V owners need to do research then.

$700 for every 6 months for me.

~Edit~

It is also full coverage

Well what is funny is my insurance on my Si Sedan is 43.00 a month went down 12 a month from my 05 Pontiac GTO.... It all depends on age, length of time driving as well as which car has more accidents! When I first got my GTO, my insurance dropped in 1/2 compared to my Z28 Camaro and then it started creeping up 6 months later because more people were wrecking the gtos!
