Hi, I am new here. I got a Civic SI about 3 months ago. About 1 month ago it started making a RPM related sound (kinda like a belt is stuck under the car and flopping and hitting the car). I took the car to the dealer and they did a valve adjustment after talking with HONDA. They found the valves were all out of spec. It was suppose to be a valve tick. I got the car back the sound is still kinda there just different. A couple of days later there was a NEW sound, while letting the car rev down in gear the engine buzzes between 3.5k to 3k.
I took the car to the dealer again last thursday. They dealer called me and told me that they are gonna open up the engine from the bottom to see if they can find anything. Friday, they called and said it needs a new short block and that my car will be ready by thursday 5/8. I waited till 5pm before giving the dealer a call. I was told at 7 pm that they where test driving my car and will get a call back in 10 mins. well, no call. so i called a few times yesterday(5/9) was told that the car is not done and they will call me with an update in 10 mins. well, I finally got to talk to my service adviser at around 6 pm. I was told that while they were putting the engine back together they noticed a leaking fuel injector and they have the parts on order. New ETA is monday may 12. Now the car has less than 2700 miles on it, it already has valve adjustment, new short block, and new fuel injector(S). I am wonder if there is a case to ask honda to buy the car back from me. I read online that inorder to lemon a car dealer has to failed to fix the car 3 times or the car has to be in the shop for more than 30 days. I have lost all faith in this car. Damn it has all these work even before the first oil change. Just incase someone here thinks I rev the car to death, I have only vtec a handful of times. Kinda hard to push the car in LA traffic or with my 2 year old in the back. |

At this point you do not have a no lemon situation. If they fix the car they have fullfilled their obligation.
By the way if you speak to any manager it would be the the Service Manager. Last edited by corza; 05-10-2008 at 10:57 PM. |

At most dealerships the sales manager is second to the GM, the service manager would report to him and so would the F/I manager. Speaking to the Service Manager will prolong the issue... Also, like I said you are NOT in a lemon situation.... YET...

get signed paperwork of when all work will be done and exactly when it will completed and when the car will be ready to be picked up. any discrepancies, have a lawyer call them. legal action helps. honestly, dont skimp on a lawyer because this is clearly a serious situation. 20k on a new car and it needs a new short block? that's bullshit.
