Is my clutch going out?

How do I know my clutch is out? Everytime I launch the car to race or something it doesn't go into 2nd... weird thing is... this is not the typical problem most get of 2nd grinding. My doesn't grind at all.... it just stays there and doesn't take it and keep revving... once I slow down, it takes it O_O wtf!? Do I need a new clutch?

At first glance, it sounds like either the clutch is weak or it's not being fully engaged. Does it ONLY happen in 2nd, or is it every gear under load? (meaning, shifting into 3rd and accelerating should produce a similar effect if the clutch is going bad.) How many miles do you have on it?

nothings wrong with your clutch. the shift from 1st to second at redline is more difficult then it is in higher gears. You just have to be a little slower and act with more precision.

I think I misunderstood his question...lol. Between your two posts I get it...it's not going INTO 2nd at high revs, slowing down allows it to slip in. I see.

Obviously I don't do that very often. Heh.

theres nothing wrong with it. thats just how it is. shifting from 1st to 2nd at 8,000 rpm's is gonna be a little more difficult than shifting from 4th to 5th at 3,500 rpms.

Move your seat up so your clutch foot hits the floor BEFORE you start moving the shift lever towards second gear. If it's still hesitating or grinding your second gear synchro is shot.

test your clutch see if it is going...even though i really dont think it is...just for your own peace of mind...start your car put it in 3rd while ur not moving and let go of the clutch to see if it stalls out...if it does right away you should be golden and ur problem isnt really the clutch at all...

Here's how to test your clutch is going out. Not the most gas efficient.. but w.e.

Put it in 1st gear.. drive it to 20 mph and hold it there. Now floor it... did you notice any slipping? EX: Revs going up but speed isn't going up as fast?

In my experience though with the Si's oem clutch.. it's indestructible.
