both are solid cars... do you want
A) economy and slight luxury and an easy ride or B) performance, tight flicky steering and a bumpy ride? I should note that the SI is a pretty easy first manual car to drive. Last edited by habitat; 05-07-2008 at 05:16 AM. |

The better choice is how you will use the car. the R18 has plenty of spunk and it is a fun car to drive. If you want a fun car to drive make sure you get a manual. The Si is funner, but it comes at a price. Premium fuel, lower milage (mostly due to 8200 RPM's) So if you are going to put it around town and maybe evey once and awhile enjoy a twistie I would recomend the Ex-L. If you want to play everytime you drive get and Si. Or because you like one or the other a little more.

It's not just the seats, but also the switches and wiring needed for the heated seats. In the end, if you want leather, it'll be cheaper to reupholster the stock seats. Plus, that way it wont be an ugly tan and you can get alcantara/suede center inserts :)

Hahah yeah, I'm in the market of getting an Si too, hopefully in two weeks I'll be rolling on a new one. But yeah when I went to a dealership a week ago, they didn't have the car in the color I wanted and they tried to get me on an Ex and I'm like, the only civic that exist to me is the Si and I walked away.

My vote would go for the Si. I had a 06 EX with Navi, and just last month sold it for an 08 Si with NO Navi (couldn't find one in Habanero Red with Navi, and I didn't want to wait).
I really like the Si better. It is much more fun to drive. I do miss the Navi, and may do a upgrade someday to a factory Navi. Other than that, I wouldn't want to drive my old EX again. Good luck and let us know what you get! You really can't go wrong with either one though! |

The salesperson spoke to me for five minutes and knew I would love the Si. He let me drive it a few hours. Suddenly, I NEEDED THAT CAR. Take an Si for a spin. And don't be afraid to redline it. You'll be so hooked, the things you didn't like at first will be the things you come to love later. |

Actually, when I was buying the Civic, I wanted an EX with navi coupe.
I ended up with a Fiji Blue Si. I bought it almost exclusively for the aesthetics, color (Fiji) and added power for when I need it. I rarely, rarely give it hell, though I will say this: it is MUCH nicer to pass cars or get out of a jam in an Si than an EX, trust me. The EX-L is nice, but it's not going to be a cushy ride like a Caddilac. Expect it to be a little harsh. The Si is a bit harsher, but it is more precise, on-track, and the steering is tighter. Both are great cars, but you need to decide whether the premium gas for the Si, lower gas mileage, and the like are worth it. The EX-L with heated leather sure is nice, as is the fuel economy, but I would advise getting a manual, as the automatic I drove was very, very, very slow. I felt like the Aveo rental I had was faster.

The coupe nets you the 350 watt sound system, and it is very good for a stock system. The sedan would only get you the 100 something watt one. Big difference. As for the interior, the seats are much nicer in the coupe, I think, and the front end looks nicer. The radio display (if you don't have navi) will let you customize it to say anything you want.

+11111 I was the exact same way. As soon as I rolled into my dealership I already had my heart set on an SI even though the salespeople tried to sell me a cheaper economy car (ex) and an accord. They were like..."Ok sir I can see you want an SI let me check if we have any in stock for you" |

actually i kinda thought the si was not the car for me... at first we went in looking for a v6 accord.. the salesman asked me if i wanted to get an si... i told him thanks but no thanks.. i personally thought it was too "sporty" looking with nothing to pack behind it.. after a few months it dawned on me that i was never gonna get a v6 accord 6spd... so i "settled" with the si... never looked back since
