from what i'm told, the minder is mostly related to one statistic: crankshaft revolutions. so the higher you keep the rpm's, the sooner that percentage is going to drop. can you drive the car in higher rpm's without driving it 'hard?' sure. is it likely? not really. but i think it's more of a way to care for the car properly as opposed to see how you drive. *shrug* my $.02

OCI is based on Fuel consumption. Not RPMS. Burn more fuel and have shorter OCI. Drive easy burn less fuel and have longer OCI.
Future owners could tell how hard you have driven if you follow the OCI to the exact specs. Since most people are ignorant and change the oil much sooner than required - it would appear on paper that the car was driven hard requiring sooner OCI. But very few people sell cars via private party and then even less buyers would be smart enough to analyze OCI. |
