Quick Question...

Hey guys, when i am upshifting in gears in my Si, sometimes the shifting is smooth and sometimes it feels different. Let me try to explain this, when i go into 1st it goes in smooth like butter, but when i am shifting to 2nd, it goes in kind of like, its goes thru a tight fit then goes in. its nothing hard or really bad, could be the synchros its touching. but for some reason, when i am shifting to any gear, when i put in the clutch, i let the rpm go down to 1,500 and then i shift and it goes in smooth. sorry for this question as in i am new to a stick shift and just want to make sure of this. anyone willing to shed some light to this question...

also 1 more question, when you have to cruise real slow, as in like a long driveway in first, after you get going, but like 6mph, do you let out the clucth at that speed or do you even it out with the gas. i'm not sure on this one and i am pretty sure this will wear out the clutch even more if i even it out so i just go thru 1st then i put it in nuetral and let my baby go by itself...

OK to the second question, you can idle in first gear with the clutch out, if this is what you are asking. I wouldn't recomend just letting the clutch out slow till you are up to speed i would give it a little gas and clutch out at the same time, then when moving you can let out on the clutch and take your foot off th gas.

To the first question I have read about this a lot and even read about it on the RSX forums.

I am pretty sure...not 100%, but pretty sure that the "not so smoothness" of shifting into 2nd is from the gears in the tranny spinning faster than the others. It takes a bit more work for those synchros to line up, and let you get into that gear. Makes sense right? At lower rpms, everything is spinning more slowly, so its easier to line up and get into gear...while when the rpms are higher its harder.
Why is it only with second? The gear is shorter, thus spins faster. Its like the difference between 6th and 1st on the extreme side of things. 1st obviously spins a heck of a lot faster.
I dont know, its late...Ive had a little to drink...makes sense to me.

yeah man that sounds right, its not only 2nd its the above but yeah 1st and 6th go in smooth. but i guess it is just the feel of what you explained. now one more question, is this bad or no. and about the 1st gear, i gas it and let out the clutch but when i let go of the gas at like 7mph, its like the engine is forced, is this normal cause i quickly put it in nuetral cause i think and don't want it to cut off...
