New to the SI world......

Hey everyone. Ive had a tsx(automatic) for 4 years now and my lease is just ending. I was between getting a new tsx(manual), and Si, or Altima Coupe. Yesterday my dad and i went to the dealer and they gave us a great deal on a new Fiji Blue Si w/ nav and summer tires. They got it shipped from another dealer today and i stopped by to see it. We havent gotten to drive an Si yet and i cant wait till tomm or sat when we go to pick it up.

I had 2 questsions.

1. Should i be worried that there were already 34.7 miles on it? They told me that the other dealer got the car on April 15, so idk if ppl test drove it or if it was from transporting it and gassing it up.

2. Different ppl say different things about breaking in the engine, should i go with 600 miles or 1000 miles to break it in? And when breaking it in, what is the limit that i should not cross in the rpms, 4000, 5000, or 6000 and just not hit the vtech?

How many miles did ur Si have when u took ownership of it?

Thanks for the help and i cant wait to get my hands on this car!!!!!

Get the fiji. You can break it in how ever you like.

I got my ggm si-dan with about 100 miles on it.

Drives great; took it to the dealership this morning and they got the rattle out (had a rattle right behind the glove box)

Salesman said: "It's a high revving engine, just vary the rpms."

Once you get her past around 6000 rpm, you'll be in heaven, just drive defensively/safe

i got my si this year and it had 80 miles on it...but i asked to meet the transporter (who was some old guy) and was there when the car arrived with the plastic on it. I wouldnt worry..they did try to sell me one with 300 miles..which is way too much

I got my Si 3 weeks ago with 11 miles on it. I did what the manual said and just waited til' the 600 mile mark..which equaled death by the way. But I officially went over 600 yesterday..mile 613, VTAAAAAAKed the hell out of her :)

They're great cars, enjoy them. Sounds like your young (like myself) if your dads going to dealer with you and if you had a TSX for 4 years (auto) this may be your first stick so be careful.

And yeah, like the one kid said, just vary the rpms. I wouldn't rip in it everyday.

excited

This will be my first manual car. PPl have taught me to drive a manual in the past, so im pretty confident in my driving and that i will not stall, but i still get a little nervous on hills. I deffinatly pushed my tsx to its limit, sometimes a little too hard (i wish it didnt have the governor at 133 :) And i cant wait till i get to break in this car and get comfortable driving it. Ill be graduating college im a year so i will prob keep this car for a while and mod it when the warranty expires. I did a lot of research on cars and either wanted this or the new bmw 128i but the lease prices were outrageous. I havent driven an Si yet so im beyond excited to pick it up.

Just so you know, you don't have to wait on the warranty to be up to start modding. You just have to wait to do stuff to the engine itself. Anything that just bolts onto the engine cannot void your warranty.
