why does the Si radio have a different style display?

Hi guys, I'm new but I will introduce myself in another thread sometime. I had a question/observation thats not really a big deal but bugs me.

When Honda updated the odometer LCD to red text on a black background (in MY07 I think) so it was the same style and matched the speedo. Why didn't they do the same to the radio display?

I know the other civics all have matching displays. I just think it looks weird.

Need pics to understand.

----------------

I think your odometer might be dim down to low. Perhaps turn it up?

the 06's odometer looked the same as the radio. black letters with an orange bac. in 07+ they updated the odo, no bac, but the letters lit up orange, just like the speedo.

he's asking why they didnt do the same thing for the radio.

edit: why is b a c k l i g h t showing up as b a c ?

I just check my Si and I see what OP means.

Red text for odometer while radio is black text.

It does look weird!

-----

I think the LX/EX have matching blue with their radio text.

I know. It's super annoying. I'm happy that my 2006 non-Navi Si matches. If I had a non-Navi 2007+ Si, I'd be super annoyed. Personally, I wish they used a black on red scheme for the radio (like the 07+ odometer areas), but not a huge deal.

Still, seems stupid to have done that, but not the radio. It doesn't match at all.

Pictures for clarification:

this is still nothing in comparison to the absolute irrational decision to have everything else green.

I agree. I think it looks really cheap. A lot of Honda's seem to do that. The radio and bacing are different colors, and then the window switches are yet again a different color.

I loved in my Pontiac's that everything was red. Period.

same thing in my previous BMW. amber everywhere.

the funny thing is, they could have made it a pale white, and it would have matched both the R18 and the Si interior, to some degree, as the R18 is white on blue, and the Si's guage cluster (not odo) is amber/white.

funny thing, the Accords still do the green, yet, their speedo and radio is white...

making it match would be as simple as taking the dash apart, and swapping the polarizing film on the display...

I would like to learn more about how simple that would be.

LOL! If you look at the temp and gas gauges, they're different too. 06 has white and 07 has red. I like the 07 much better than the 06.

It got a lil scary in here for a moment.

Well OP, although the radio is a minor issue...

It is all the more reason to get an Avic-D3!

WOW i wouldn't say you have to be a mega car enthusiast to know what the radio back light color scheme is or care.

I've test drove quite a few cars and I have never once stopped to think if I liked the radio color scheme.
