Car won't start

I went to go get a haircut today, and I came out and my car wouldn't start. When I turned the key, the power steering light was on, but none of the dashboard lights, but the dashboard lights would flash on and off like crazy every once in a while. I checked the battery and the indicator on it is green. I called my roommate and he came and jumped me. I had lots of trouble at first, it would start and run for about 2 seconds, then start like chugging and shut off. When I got home the horn honk for lock confirmation was very weak, it sounded like the battery was dead. It is a 06 Si with 18K miles. Do you think it is the battery? How long have you guys been getting off your stock battery? My car is 2 weeks shy of 2 years old.

This sounds more like an alternator failure... once you jump your car it should run normally.

Make sure the terminals are on tight.

I don't have any tools with me at school besides my leatherman, but they seem tight.

Happened to me randomly too. Only when I went to start it, instead of the engine turning over, it gave me an electrical buzzing sound.

Isn't it under warranty? let the dealership deal with it.

yea I am planning on taking it there in the AM. I just don't want to go there if my battery is just dead.

Isn't the battery under warranty? Most have warranties when bought aftermarket. I've never had a battery last less than 5 years and that's with -40 winters!

I know it is if it fails prematurely, I just don't know how long honda expects the battery to last, because Im sure its just a cheap crap battery.

EDIT: Just checked, battery is covered for 3 years under warranty

You may have caused the immobilizer and key to 'lose sync' if for some reason the key was pressed a lot in your pocket. This can happen. That could explain the car starting for a second and then dying.

I know what you are describing, but I don't think that is it. It wouldn't do that until I was being jumped.

same here, i just waited a second, tried again, and it worked fine

once happened once or twice though

My car wouldn't start or jump start today. I called the dealer and they just came and towed it away : (

sounds like a bad alternator.
if the battery was dead, the ride home would have charged it...the fact that the battery was sstill dead when you got home means that it wasnt getting a charge.

It was only like a mile or so drive home, I probably should have driven around some before i parked. Idk, but it should be getting all taken care of now

you might have a hard time trying to get this warrentied if you do.

nope, car is stock (except CC Shortshifter, rear clear tail bulbs, amsoil tranny fluid etc)
