it is ambiant lighting, just light enough to brighten up the shifting area during night, but not too bright that it wrecks night vision.

I honestly question how often people are going to ask about the courtesy light...

Seriously, every new honda has one, and I see this question asked on almost every honda based board I frequent.

I think a more correct answer would be to search. It's been asked countless times.

I don't know why so many people are bothered by it, it's barely noticeable, well at least to me

I don't know that it's adjustable, but it does come on and off in relation to your parking lights and headlights.

Is there a way to change this light to an LED? I'd love to have it as a nice bright Red LED.

That light is the most pointless thing I've ever seen. It's not bright enough to do jack. I guess its just there to look pretty.

Actually, I find that it lights JUST enough to see the handbrake and shift knob. It is mostly useless, but it's a cute little thing.

Didn't know it would dim when I dimmed the interior though. Gotta check that out tonight. I usually go 4/5 for dimness at night now, to prevent glare from the panels. Makes a big difference, surprisingly.

Is this something just for the manual cars? I've had my car for about 2 years and have no idea what you're talking about (AT LX coupe)
