I don't remember where, but there is a pretty extensive check list running around some where.. I'll see if I can dig it up.

EDIT: here's a good one

The tow hook on my car was damaged when I got it. The paint was all peeled off and shit so I told them and they gave me a touch up pen.

NHBP, Check the paint for swirls!! They jacked my car up good with their crappy towels when they washed it. It was dark so I didn't notice. I was pissed.

Check the bumper pieces in the corners to see if they fit right.

Just from my experiences.

I bought my car in the dark and didn't notice till my first wash this weekend but the paint is screwed up in 2 places on the trunk lid

Theres like 2 spots about 1/2 a dime size where the paint is either "thin" or just scuffed (like someone took an eraser and rubbed it there) but it won't come off. I don't care enough to take it back to the dealership... It's really not that bad and even if they offered to re-paint the trunk lid, its still not worth it.

after 2 hours of doing a walk around on my car, the only fault I found with it was a scratch on the driver's mirror that they've promised to touch up.

Yeah, they pretty much knew I was gonna buy the car (only Si w/navi I could find) cause I had put a deposit on it. Honestly, the spoiler pretty much covers the one spot and the other is so small and un-noticable, it's not worth getting a body shop involved. Plus I haven't tried to buff it out yet... but I doubt it will buff out... lol

Not sure if your state requires a front plate or not, but make sure they didnt screw the front plate to the bumper. My GF just picked up her 08 EX and the plate was screwed to the bumper.

Hey, can your father adopt me so I can get my new car paid for too?

Wow, when I was growing up my mother/father "LOANED" me $1,200 to buy a used Toyota Trecel. Very used. I worked for a good deal of the summer to pay them back. I will never under parents who just buy their kids cars, new ones at that. How in the world is a teenager supposed to understand the value of money (and humility) if you're just buying him/her everything he/she wants?

Okay, I'll get off my soapbox now. Just remember to enjoy your car and be very appreciative of having a new car. I know adults who can't afford a new car and drive around with an old beater because it's all they can afford.

Just cause they didnt pay for the car doesnt mean they dont know the value of money. Quit stereo-typing and get over it

Yeah and you walked to school in 3 feet of snow in July. You wore concrete t shirts and wheels were square. Way back in the 1980's........

Regardless of what you think, don't hate on the dude For all you know, his dad might be buying the car outright to avoid paying interest in which the son will pay him back (which isn't the best idea but still). I'm sure you don't know the whole situation, so let's keep the hate down on a future Si owner

School was always closed when it snowed that much. I don't ever remember wearing concrete t shirts, and it's doubtful a wheel has ever been square in design. That would defeat the purpose, no?

I think it's highly doubtful his father bought the car so he wouldn't have to pay interest and is expecting him to pay back $21,000. Highly doubtful. If that were the case he probably would have bought him a cheap used car (like I had to) and pay him back. I'm not surprised some people would defend that sort of thing, as quite possibly their parents did the same thing. It's also highly doubtful anyone learns the value of money when their parents are buying them $21,000 cars. Learning the value of money means working hard and saving your money so you can buy your own $21,000 car (or make the payments on them the way everyone else without wealthy parents has to).

In the OP's defense it's not nearly as bad as some of the highschool/college brats who get new BMW's and Mercedes from their parents for getting good grades or graduating college. Getting good grades in highschool and graduting college was expected in my family, and certainly not worthy of a new car reward. I've worked hard for everything I've ever owned, so I'm sorry if I see a thread about waiting until "daddy buys me a new car" and getting a bit miffed.

I don't want to get into a flame war about this. I was just telling the OP to be very appreciative of his new car, since many people don't have the luxury of having their parents buy them new cars. I'm not judging him, just telling him to be appreciative because many people aren't so lucky. I figure since everyone is going to be congratulating him, I would be the one person to offer different advise.

Had a scratch on my right fender and rear right rim. They painted it for free (except a drop of paint of the rim is now on my rear bumper. Didn't notice it till 4 months later).

I order mine no extras but since mine came from another dealership, it came with free trunk tray, wheel locks, and some questionable of liking pinstripes.

If you got wheel locks, MAKE SURE YOU GOT THE WHEEL LOCK KEY! I never got mine, and I'm not bothering the dealership about it. It is nearly 5 months now and I know it will be just a struggle fighting with them. I'm just going to just ask Discount tire if I can buy one and just say "I hope I learn my lesson".

Sometime you just get sick of hearing how hard everyone had it. Every time some 17-18 year old gets on here with a new SI someone talks about how they worked for their own car yada yada. Some people have money, others don't. It's called life. Congratulate them on their new car and drive on.

Well a lot of 17 and 18 year olds on this board had to pay for their SI on their own, so they know exactly what I'm talking about. I would never stereotype a 17 or 18 year old that way because many of them are very hard working and don't get anything given to them by their parents. You think I was the only one? I bet most of the 17 and 18 year olds here are making payments on their car like the rest of us, and working hard to do so.

I will congratulate the OP on his new purchase, but along with the congratulation should be that little thing called "appreciation."
