Short Shifter

I have been looking into getting a TWM SS. I always thought it was the SS that made the height of the shifter shorter but from my readings I found that it doesnt do that. What makes the height shorter? I am looking for shorter throws but want the height shorter as well.

edit: Is it just a different shift knob, like going from stock (almost oval shaped) to like JDM Type R (circular knob)?

There are countersunk shift knobs that you're thinking about that basically screw in deeper giving it a lower profile

TWM also sells counter sunk knobs that can lower your knob quite low.

Would the JDM CTR shift knob make it shorter? In pics ive seen its looks quite short.
