Third Gear Fix Confirmed By Dealership (Milwaukee)

I decided to try a different dealership, since I was getting the usual runaround from where I purchased my car. I stopped at Honda City in Milwaukee, and headed over to the service department.

I asked "Gina" when the best time to bring my car in for a tech to drive it. She asked what I drove, and I told her a 2007 Si. She asked right away, "does it pop out of gear"?

She then told me that the Accords had the same problem and Honda just recently released a fix. The fix for the Si is on the way and she told me to call back in a week or so for some updates!

Its FINALLY coming!

By the way...

Good stuff. When you do get some good info, make sure to get the TSB # for all of us here.

It seems like there is more and more light building at the end of the tunnel. Albeit slowly, but surely.

bet its gonna be a tsb that the dealer has to "replicate" the problem. aka they still won't do it.

my girlfriends' brother has an 06 si and has been experiencing this 3rd gear problem.. He told me from what he had heard- it was just an issue with a selected range of these.

I'm actually buying & picking up a new car this Saturday- and have already put down a deposit towards an 08 black EXL coupe, but got more money than i was expecting from my insurance company and am now considering on switching it over to the habanero SI they have on the lot...

Are there any ongoing issues with the '08s???

This assauges me from my HORRIBLE encounter with American Honda's [Lack of] Customer Service. My case manager was the rudest woman I've ever talked to in my life.

Still....I'm concerned that this fix is going to be a TSB that requires dealership replication (and nothing else) in order to get fixed.

If that's the case, I need to go buy a For Sale sign, because I have documents of twenty some prior visits to different dealerships, all who claim they can't "replicate" the alleged problem.

It's pretty ridiculous that the dealers in the twin cities "can't" replicate the third gear problems. If worse comes to worse, I know two great dealers that would diagnose it for you, but the expense of being almost 3 hours or more hours from the twin cities. BUT it should NEVER come down to that.

However, I believe that once a TSB is out, all dealers will be much more lenient on what they consider third gear issues that need to be fixed. I really admire your persistence on the issue.

The dealership here in Milwaukee has done numerous third gear replacements. This is both on Accords and Civics. The Accords problem has been solved, now on to the Civic.

The Si 3rd gear problem even popped up in Car and Driver magazine. It's pretty lame of most dealers to continue to deny it.

I hope there is also a fix on the way but I'm sure it'll be a TSB and not a recall, and dealers will continue to deny it at their current rate.

I'm still kinda scheptical if anything will get done since I've read similar threads in the past months and even in the past years with the RSX. Hell, when I worked at Acura one of the advisors said a transmission recall was coming for the Type-S, which never happened.
