never heard of this term. Heard of riding the brakes... which usually means keeping on the brakes while on a long downhill road and thus overheating them and reducing their efficiency.

As far as I know it has to do with racing but more specifically roadracing. When you're entering a corner to maintain a slight amount of pressure on the brake pedal as opposed to doing all of one's braking before entering the corner. It's easier to do if you can left foot brake so that you can modulate the accelerator pedal with your right foot.

dragging the brakes means braking while accelerating. i believe what 02civic is talking about is called trailbraking.

That's kind of confusing as to why if you're racing that one would want to drag the brakes while you're accelerating. I would think that one wouldn't want any resistance so that you can acheive maximum acceleration. I could understand if you wanted to drag the brakes after hitting a puddle.

i dont know but i think its something automatic drivers might sometimes do to decrease the sensitivity of the accelerator pedal when they want to move very slowly.

this is a good idea, and had i known about or thot about this a while ago, i would have used it with my rwd cougar which has 290 tq and its very hard not to spin the tires when on snow so perhaps this will help.. it has traction control but that dont help enuf.. whats odd is i can barely spin the tires on dry pavement
