I am PISSED

As some of you might have seen, I got an Si about 2 weeks ago... I had a problem with 2nd gear grinding, and 3rd gear as well... For 2 weeks I went to Honda to tell them there is something wrong with my rear brake and my tranny... they said "nothing was wrong" like usual. Today my brake decide to sound weirder than ever, and my 2nd gear finally gave in... I don't have 2nd gear AT ALL. I have extended warranty on my used Si until 91,000 miles and luckily it covers tranny... The service adviser wants to charge me $400 for just dropping the tranny, thats if I am not covered. So now I am basically in jeopardy of paying $400 if they do not feel like covering my car... Now, there is no way that in 2 weeks, even if I abused the tranny, I could have broken it myself. When they sold the car to me, they said it was a certified car, then the service advisers tell me it's not. WTF!? They owe me a lot of stuff for my car they haven't felt like fixing, one adviser told me my tranny had already been worked on in the past with warranty, and today I find out it never was... WTF!? They claimed they fixed my rear brake, and today it's sounding louder than ever... WTF!?

The other day I met the sales person who sold the car originally when it was brand new, and he said it was his nephew's. I asked him why he traded it in and he said that it was because he was getting too many speeding tickets and a lot of trouble... So he broke my damn tranny. They better cover me because first of all I was lied to and my contract says that they will cover anything that happens to my brakes, engine, transmission, axles, except if its wear and tear like the clutch...

Have you guys had any problems? I've read about a guy losing his 3rd gear but not 2ND!

They'll cover it. If they don't though, get a lawyer.

One thing that's always been true about Civic Si's, as well as GSR's and RSX's back in the day, you gotta buy new. People beat on these cars and of course we've come to find out the trannys are glass on the new Civics. I wasn't going to trust buying a used Si for only a few grand cheaper.

Theres a story that i would like ot tell.
Its quite similiar to this but it happened to a TSX. My friend was hearing this click click click sound while driving, and so he went to his usual shop and check it out. Found out it was a differential problem and should be covered under warranty.

He then went to acura and check the car and they did say if its not your fault its warranty, BUT if we find out its not you have to pay $1000 for 10 hour labor. So he still proceeded because theres no way he's goign to drive like this.

After 3 weeks, he gets a call from acura saying its not under warranty because it was casue by abusive driving said by the destrict manager. They explained that there is a part on the flywheel that broke off and caused this click and damaged other parts of the transmission. They also said it'll break by abusive driving and the car is modified. Note that the cars got a set of coilovers, rims and exhaust, never touched the engine and tranny. So my friend got real pissed and talked to honda canada and honda canada went ot investigate and turned out that they said the exact same thing that acura dealership said.

My friend even wrote to them saying what is abusive driving? Your car have 7000 rpm redline and you're saying i can't use it? your 200hp comes at 7000rpm and so you're saying that you're false advertising because you can't get it and if you do get it you're abusing the car? Honda Canada did nothing but to saying Sorry its not under warranty.

And from that day on he told them that he'll never get anyone in his family or his friends to buy another Honda because warranty's are fake and will not be claimed.

In the end he had to pay $4400 for a new transmission or else if he chooses to buy a used one for $2000, and tow the car somewhere else to do it, he'll have to pay $1000 for that disassebling charge.

So just to let you know they migth not warranty it because they will find all sorts of excuses to say NO!

Well I am not going to have a story like your friend because there's no way in hell I broke my tranny in 2 weeks by myself. I still have my normal power train warranty from Honda, plus an extended one, if neither of them cover it that means trouble for them, because its on a contract that the only thing they wont cover is the clutch, which is standard for any car warranty.

I will get an attorney and make them buy the car back I swear, because I told 3 different advisers about my problem even before it happened and all they did was say that it's a normal problem... Well is it MY problem? Honda better get their facts straight before they drop a "not covered" line on me...

Well my car has 45000 miles, that means that the guy that had it before probably contributed to my damage, which is why I got me an extended warranty which by contract is supposed to cover my issue.

Well I haven't had problems with this one yet, and I figured since the car was bought from that dealer brand new, and traded in in the same dealer, they KNOW that he car might have had some issues... It's a lost case for Honda considering that the original sales person confessed that his nephew abused the car himself and tickets forced him to trade it in... Of course I found out about this after all the issues.

So I talked to my brother in law who's a mechanic and told me that Honda is just going to take my money, that they will find a way to say I was the one that broke it and will not cover me... he says this because he has seen it happen a lot in that dealership. Now that he said that, what can I do? My mechanic said that my second gear completely wore out and that the dealership will most likely consider it abuse and will try to charge me in full for nothing, $400 dollars just to inspect the tranny... Where can I find transmission parts myself? I am basically gambling with my car right now and realistically every odd is looking against me based on experiences I have read from others. The only thing that is in my side is the fact that the car was in fact used, and that they should take car of major problems like this before handing it down to the customer. Anybody here have any advice? Or can tell me where I can find the pieces to fix the tranny?

I am just scared, so getting an attorney will help right I mean I didn't cause this issue myself. In my opinion its the dealers responsibility and it's taking advantage of the customer by pulling something off like this.
