The "I have NO 3rd gear problems" List/thread

OK, so the other list of people who DO have 3rd gear problems has grown. I'm wanting to know if there are any number of people who DO NOT have such a problem. If this thread is a dumb idea, a repost, or the mods just don't like it, feel free to lock/delete.

I think for me it will be informative. I'm wondering if this issue is as widespread as our 8thcivic.com window shows.

I am also planning on getting an Si and this is the one major issue that is holding me back for now. I will add to start that I just sold my 02 RSX-S and it had NO tranny issues at all, especially 3rd gear.

Thanks!

I only have about 1300km (800miles) on my 08 Si Sedan, I haven't any 3rd gear not engaging/popping out issue, but I did have some trouble getting into reverse once.

well do you mean a perfect trans? because i don't think you will get many of those. i don't experience popping out/difficult engagement though. i just use confident shifts into third <knock on wood> i don't seem to have much of a problem with the trans

Going on 12,000 miles//purchased 1-07//Comptech SS since 2000 miles

I had an 05 RSX-S before the Si sedan and I am a VERY good driver. Had the issue on my RSX, but the Si has somehow avoided the curse. The car does sit in the garage for like 3-4 days at a time and gargae is heated. RSX was stored in an apartment carport and always did it when it was cold.

If you don't mind me asking, what were the minor upgrades?

BTW thanks you guys for posting and adding what mileage you are at. I didn't even think of it but that's pretty useful as well.

'07 FG2 2700mi purchased Nov 07 all stock: No pop outs or grinds, but I have felt an occasional "crunchy"(dont know what other word to decribe it) feeling going into 3rd.

Im beginning to think that 3rd gear grinding happens when the tranny is really cold and the driver is really 'tired' thus cold tranny plus driver error equals grinding. If you clutch all the way in, smooth shift into 3rd and smooth clutch out whilst countering it with gas then 3rd gear never grinds/pops. If your rough with the tranny on a cold start then 3rd sometimes 2nd may pop out. Driver error is a big part in all this.
