Door locks after 3 seconds of driving
Ok guys I know this is a standard safety measure of some sort...but I kinda find it annoying that my SI locks all doors after about 3 seconds of driving. Is there any way to turn this off? Its just annoying when people try to get out and its always locked because it always locks itself. Also if I drive and need to get something out of the back door...its ALWAYS locked. Just wondering if there is any way to change this. Thanks in advance!

There is a way to change it. It details the exact steps how in the Owners Manual. However, I believe it has also been posted on this site. You could probably find the steps on here if you search.
If you can't find it searching, and if you don't have a manual I (or someone else on here) would probably be able to look it up in the manual. |

Thank god I am able to turn that thing off lol. Its been bothering me ever since I got the car...my gf cant stand it because every time she goes to get out its always locked..and the locks are so small and black she can never find it lol. Everyone else in the back of the car can never find the locks either and they always complain how annoying it is. I have all the manuals in the car so tomorrow morning first thing im getting rid of that automatic lock for sure! haha

haha i have a weird story about y this is actually awesome and could save ur life. back when i had my 04 toyota camry (Floating POS), i went to a Target that was ryt next to the ghetto at night. when i was trying to leave and exit onto the main road, there was a bunch of traffic so i stood there for a good 10 minutes. then some weird homeless guy did wat i waited 10 minutes to do and dashed across the main road dodging traffic heading straight for my car. he was holding something in his right hand and when he got to my car he tried to get in through my rear driver door.
![]() i panicked and peeled out almost hitting two cars as i sped down the main road. anyways, the autolocking feature saved my life in my opinion, even though i might have overreacted. but im sure theres a way to turn it off if u really want to. |

I like the fact that it locks... makes me feel safe in a way. I programed mine so that both the drivers side and passenger side unlock when the key is turned off. I don't really find it a big deal to hit the unlock button if I want to keep my car running and get out for a minute.

I can totally understand all those other reasons for leaving the feature on. But I live in Hunterdon Country, NJ which is an extremely safe county so im not too worried. I mean I would normally lock it anyway when driving..I just want the option there to lock or not lock lol.

1. Apply the parking brake 2. turn the ignition switch to the ON (II) position, and close the drivers door 3. on a/t vehicles push and hold the brake pedal then move the shift lever out of P 4. push and hold the rear of the master door lock switch on the drivers door. you will hear a click, continue to hold the switch: *** until you hear another click (after 5 seconds) to activate drivers door unlock, or *** until you hear 2 more clicks (after about 10 seconds) to activate all doors unlock. 5. release the switch and within 5 seconds turn the ignition switch to the LOCK (I) position. on a/t vehicles move the shift lever to P 6. Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK (0) position. Last edited by Si 07; 01-06-2008 at 12:23 AM. Reason: spelling |
