Comptech Short Shifter Review

So knowing from how the 2006 accord V6 6mt coupe shifter feels i knew the 06 Si short shifter could be reduced some and was anticipating the release of a god quality one.

Here comes comptech with it's short shifter. Ofcourse quality is alwasy associated with comptech and so i didn't hesitate to buy it even if it was the first on the market.

Part arrived this morning and after scrutinizing i noticed the high quality workmanship or machining that went into the part. Not sure of the material used but it looks like copper.

Got the part installed and fit and finish are perfect! It shouldn't take more than 7 minutes to get this thing done and if i was to do it again it would take me even less time. Instractions provided are all that is needed and a small alen key.

One can definately feel a difference in the fore and aft movement. For that alone it is worth buying. You absolutely know and feel that it is shorter!! The shifting is a lot faster obviously now the the motion has been shortenned, it feels smoother for the same reason. 1 through 6 was a joy before and now i cannot find a word to describe it as it is a lot more pleasurable to drive and shift!

So go buy the damn thing!!! There is no need to wait for another IMO.

Sorry i couldn't get any pics up cuz my girl has my camera.

Comptech hasn't confirmed it because they haven't had the chance to test is on an R18, but from numerous other people, it is said the components are exactly the same on the Si and other models for the shifter, so this should definitely fit the DX/LX/EX

I am still debating this part for my new Si. The stock shifter is pretty short as is, and with my fiance driving the car (she is a new manual driver, 0 experience with one), I am not sure if an ultra short throw is great for her. She needs to learn to have a smooth shifting motion. I may wait for a bit then switch it over.

Sickyute's review is right on. I installed it today. Shifts are shorter and feel great. It really adds to the fun factor. Forget about any doubts you have because this is the best 70 bucks you can spend on your car. The shifter looks exactly the same because it's just a piece that fits onto the bottom of the stock lever underneath the boot.

One word of caution: Be careful when removing the plastic cap off the bottom of the shifter. Mine fell down into the console. I had to unfasten the console so I could lift it up and look for it. If it wasn't for that, it would probably have been a 15 minute job.

thanks guys i was wondering if it would be worth the 70 bucks considering the shifting is already short as is. I had the revo technica on my 7th gen civic and loved it thats why i was lookin at Comptech for my SI. Looks like that mod will have to be done before long.

I would be willing to bet that it would work with the EX and LX models without a problem. I could be wrong...but I dont think honda is that crafty to make it significantly different between the models. I will more than likely purchase one here in a little bit and try it on my car.
