what should i do ?

im 17 about to be 18 and for graduation im looking into getting a different car. I was wondering if i should go with a si or go with a cheaper used car. If i get a new car my grandfather said he will pay half the monthly payments. If i get a used car my parents gonna take a loan out and im gonna have to pay the monthly loan payments. My parents say they dont want me to get a new car cuz i dont have enough experience in driving atleast thats what they say. Another problem is i dont kno how to drive stick but my dad and my friend are willing to teach me. So if you was in my situation would u get a new si or get a used car ? and when you guys learn how to drive stick how long did it take you to really get good at it ?

Get a new Si. You'll have 0 trouble with it, and payments shouldn't be to bad if gramps is paying half. The Si (in my opinion) is still the best bang for the buck out there. It's been my favorite Honda so far. As far as driving stick goes, it's easy, and shouldn't take you to long to figure it out. If I can learn to drive stick on a 1985 GMC dually dumptruck, you should have no trouble whatsoever with an Si. Just don't be one of those people who end up with a base model Civic w/auto, because you're scared to drive stick. I promise if you do that, you will be posting yet another " I should have got an Si" thread later.

im 17 and i bought my Si (well mostly me) and i couldnt be happier with my decision

its sporty, economical, and fun... i am glad i bought a new car because of the safety features, reliability, warranty etc... i take very good care of my car and i dont rack up miles that quickly so i expect the resale to be very good... the Si is fast enough to have fun in at our age, but not too fast to do something very stupid in.. its an overall great performer and most of all it's very practical

if you do get a new Si, just dont add to the statistics of teenage drivers

i learned stick on my dad's car and had practice with driving when i had my permit, so when i got my license i wasnt perfect but i had a good amount of experience... try and find a relative or friend with a car they're willing to let you use

And you'll need to factor in repairs and maintenance items with a used car.

You can plan on driving an Si for 10 years if you take care of it and follow the maintenance schedule.

Also, your interest rate will likely be higher with a used car.

a used car isnt bad, just make sure it is a reliable car with not too many miles.

new cars are great just dont get yourself in to much debt while your only 17. Live a little and learn. Go to school and then buy your car

get the used car young brother, you will have a much easier time paying payments on that than the si, you can get a car like the si later, you will be glad if you get a used car and not have all the payments, insurance will be very, very high if you get the si bro, the si is a great car, but I still think right now at your age you will be better in a used car and you will see this in the next couple years...

good advice, well said!also if the "mod bug" bites you, that's it!you'll be spending money on mods and your monthly payments, plus insurance and then you'll be saying, "those guys were right!" it's just friendly advice.....
