expected mileage of stock SI summer tires?

so i believe the treadwear is 240...with rotation every 4-5k and normal driving what should i expect out of these pe2's? was hoping for 20-25k but i might be way off the mark. no track or autox just street driven and the occasional on ramp and backroad romp

well i checked some reviews on tire rack. everything from rwd, awd and fwd cars. looks like 20k is very possible with basic street driving and often rotation. was hoping to hear from fellow si owners who have racked up some miles on the pe2's. anyone?

Mine look like they'd probably limp across the 20k line, barely. I'm a fairly spirited driver, though. 11k on them now, I'd subscribe for a full review, but they're about to come off my car.

At 4750 miles, there was 8.5% wear off the front and 7.5% on the back. I'm a fairly spirited driver and I get stuck in traffic a lot.

a general guideline for tires is to multiply the treadwear by 7,200 miles to get a guesstimate of how long the tire should last.

Tires are tested by being driven on a road course in texas for 7,200 miles. then the manufacturer of the tire decides how long the tire will last based upon how much it has worn in this time. thus, the treadwear is a percentage of the 7,200 miles.

keep in mind that manufacturers like to exaggerate, and sometimes inflate these numbers, and that these numbers are only somewhat accurate under NORMAL DRIVING conditions.

I think I would expect the michelins with a treadwear of 240 to last somewhere near 16,000 miles, but I actually didn't do an exact figure.

7,200 X treadwear of 240 (240%!) = your answer

NOTE: because the 240 is a percentage, don't forget to move your decimal point back two spaces. essentially your multiplier would be 2.4 if your treadwear is 240, 7.0 if your treadwear was 700, &c.

I have about 15,500 miles so far, and they look pretty good. Believe me, I like to throw my ride around corners too.

7,200 x 240 = 1,728,000

what does this mean?

240 is a percentage, I should have clarified. I will fix my original post. try 7,200 times 2.4, because if 240 is 240% if 7,200... it would be 7,200 X 2.4
