summer tires don't chirp in the cold?

seems like ever since it got colder out my summer tires don't chirp when i shift fast in vtec? they lose traction real quick and the vsa kicks on but i don't hear a chirp like i used to, it just vibrates a little. is this normal for summer tires as it gets colder out?

i was never intentionally chirping though, i was just shifting the way i knew how. maybe my shifting has gotten better? how do you intentionally make them chirp?

Powershift. It's not that hard. Don't take your foot off the gas when you shift.

it might be spinning a lil more due to the cold so u dont get the chirp cuz its not gripping as usual. Ive done silent quick burnouts b4 in my GTO

I dump and punch. After I shift up from 1st to 2nd at at least 6 Krpm, I dump the clutch out while punching the gas pedal back down. This always gives me a chirp.

When the tires are cold the rubber compound is Hard. Let them warm up then they'll chirp becuase the rubber is now soft and sticky.

Which is why they are "summer" tires.

how long do they take to heat up? cause i was driving for a little while (obviously, so the car would be warmed up before i vtec'd) and we're not talking super cold either, like 40's 50's

Summer is 80-100 degrees Thats a 40-60 degree's difference. aka summer tires

100% summer traction will not be achieved in the cooler temps untill _____ miles? If 100% is even achievable. I know that my old SuperCharged Camaro with summer tires took about 10 miles before I felt safe to attempt a sharp curve or give it thottle. But that was just a wee be more power than a 4banger.

I used to run Goodyear f1dsd3's on my old Golf and they took about 5 miles to warm up and not feel like driving on plastic. And about another 10 mile before I felt safe with them. Never really used full power or power shifts to test traction.

Tire pressure greatly effects warm up rate.
