so i parked with a girl last night... :P
and left the engine on for about a half hour with the radio on, then decided it would probably be a better idea to turn off the engine, and we stayed for probably another half hour with the engine off but radio and parking lights on. did this hurt my battery?

Battery have a rating at 20 or 25 amps for certain amount of time like say 70 minutes. This is the way how batteries are rated. Our Battery group size 51R which is uniquely small. So, the reserve capacity will not be very long. If you have stock radio, you still can listen to your radio about 40 to 50 minutes no longer than that to ensure you will still have enough power to start your car.
PS.....This condition allow when the battery is less than 3 years old and have never been drain below 12V before.

Sounds like a made up question as an excuse to tell us he parked for an hour
.like everyone said, if you didn't drain it too far to start you're fine. |

I did this for 4 hours in my dad's Dodge Ram. I turned off the engine but not the stereo/AC. After i hit it, i was about to turn on the car so i could drop her off and quit it, but the car would not start at all. Ended up having to call AAA the guy was laughing bc he knew what we were up to. It was pretty embarrassing but i was only a high school kid back then.
More High school memories: I also got caught 3 times with cops, luckily the girls i was with weren't ******** and luckily i was 18 or else i would have been escorted to my house (ASS WOOPIN TIME) The cops around here in Orange County look in every little corner for parked cars lol.

1 hour??
Shit son, it takes me an hour of four-play just to get it up, then atleast another hour to get her off a few times. Actually, in our FA I can work it for a few hours before she's done. Then of course, I will have another few wacks at it until I'm tired of beatin guts. And so if I don't have any probs with my battery, I'm sure your mini-freak sesh that only lasted 60 minutes will not effect your battery at all. And I have never had even a single volt of dropage that I know of.
So fear not young lad, your minute-man marathons will not really drain that bad-boy OEM battery in there. LoL. |

You shouldn't let it idle too long. Cams like oil, lots of it. In any engine really, not just ours. You risk premature wear to the lobes. now you know why when you first start your Si it idles high-- to get and keep oil flowing on the lobes. My 2 coppers.
