good find and as i expected. after reading that, what i really want is the shift knob, but it will probably $500 because it is mugen

This was a really half-assed, overpriced effort by Honda and Mugen. I view it as a joke the more I read about this car.

I'm still not sure how a set of wheels, suspension, exhaust system, body kit, and a shift knob justify paying $8000 more than a base car. Then again, though, it's the Mugen name. Pay huge amounts of money for something marginally better than stock has been the Mugen tradition for quite some time now.

Man I have to get one of those......oh wait, nevermind, I am not a moron and don't feel like paying 30k for a Civic Si with a bodykit, rims, and a $600 HFP suspension clone.

I think mainly you're paying for the rarity of this car more than you're just paying for the parts. Also, I'd be willing to put money on the fact that Honda is testing the waters to see how many fanbois we really have. Basically, I think that if all 1k of these are sold quickly, we'll see a type R in our future. If they don't, then no type R.

i like the wheels but $30k is too much. thats ridiculous, especially since there are no engine mods.

Good write up, still won't convince me to pay 30K for it though.

I'm going to go with they don't want to throw money into something like that before they test the waters. Them bringing the type r over here would mean either importing them from japan or shipping an all new motor to the US.. either way it's costly for a company that doesn't know if they'll sell or not.

this is Honda's worst attempt on the civic at getting a Lexus/Acura/Infinity/racer image.

wtf...it even gets beaten by the s2000.... and the 2 door si will probably give it a fight.

What a complete and utter waste of money.

Seriously.

Of course an si coupe would give it a fight, they're the same car with only 80ish lb difference. Slap the exhaust on and the mugen si will have an edge, but it'll always be a drivers race stock for stock.

As for it being a waste, I guess it depends on how you look at it. There will only be 1000 made, and it's the first joint effort by these two companies that will be mass produced which will definitely make it a collectors item and it'll probably retain its value more than a regular si would. I know that's hard to imagine, but several thousand regular si's vs. a limited edition si that's numbered and plated with options only avaliable to that one edition.

I'm not saying it's worth 30k in any way.. I guess I'm just shouting from the other side of the fence, lol.
