VSA Mileage

I picked a statement out of another thread on this forum stating that 2006 Si got a little better mileage than 2007 Si.

Has anyone with a Scanguage II done any testing with their 07's and VSA turned off?

VSA does absolutely nothing unless your tires spin or the car thinks your sliding.

As for MPG my 07 i'm happy w/ my 28 MPG. :)

Edit: Technically you should get better MPG w/ VSA on cause it wont let you spin your tires and keeps the throttle down on hard turns.

VSA has nothing to do with gas mileage.

Should this theory be true, I would still sacrifice a few MPG for the safety that VSA provides.

However, I hardly think that with VSA being active you "burn more fuel". Its like ABS, meaning that its essensially "off" until it is needed to be "on".

Like I said, it's only something I picked out of another thread. Thought it was weird but, VSA is the only difference between the two model years. Go figure. I always had the impression mileage was the same.

With grammar like that I hope you're not one of the people saved by VSA.

Kidding, but still...

lol, I did kind of think about that after I typed that post, but was too lazy to go back and retype it.

Leaving VSA off decreases our consumption of petroleum. VSA increases our use of fuel because it saves about 10,000 lives a year.

Happy now?

Since when does a button and a couple sensors weigh 50lbs? Well maybe the 07's need a bigger ECU or something lol.

well if you look at the 06 weight on the brochure and the 07 you could see about a 50lbs difference and the only difference I could think of is the VSA. A sensor only detects your rims spinning out of control it doesnt stop it

Yea but i doubt a mod to the ABS pump to apply the brakes weighs 50 lbs.

Its probably a combo of all that, the mod to the ABS pump (or whatever does the braking), the VSA computer, extra sensors (if any), bigger rear discs and probably a couple of things i forgot.

the Si sdn is 59 lbs heavier, and probably has slightly more drag because its slightly bigger, and it was new for '07

I don't see any way VSA reduces gas mileage. Maybe someone can provide a logical explanation as to why this would reduce mileage?
