07 SI Sedan as daily driver

What's up guys,

I'm new to the forum and thinking about getting an 07 SI sedan to use as a daily driver. I have a few questions hope to get some input

1. How is the SI as a daily driver, reliability, comfort, etc.
2. How is is in snow (I'm in NJ/NY area)
3. How's it on gas

Thanks all

Well i love my si civic has deffenity gone to a whole new level! I have 10k with no problems even after a accedent on the front end at 1k, ITs FWD and with some all-season tires you should be fine as for gas you have to use premium, and if you keep it below 4500 rpm you should get 30+ miles to the gaL i would highly recomend this car!

As long as you dont have summer tires like i did when i got mine. Worthless in winter.

Limited slip diff (both front tires spin) + stability and traction control + winter tires = Awesome car in the winter.

Mine is a daily driver, and I drive 40 minutes to work each way and am never uncomfortable in the seat during my commute. The sedan gets good gas mileage (I am usually between 28-35 mpg on a tank) and it also has plenty of room for anyone to ride in it. My dad is 6'5" and fits in the back seat comfortably. It is a good car that is a better buy than the other civics because of the driving experience of the Si

its a very comfortable car. The first thing people say when they get in is how nice the seats are. They are soft, but the bucketness they have holds you in very well when you wanna have a little fun

I got my fiji blue sedan in May to be my daily driver. So far so good. The biggest thing is it's styling, and I consistently get looks from other drivers on the road due to how awesome it looks (I wash my car and shine the rims/tires religiously). It's pretty reliable but there's some panel rattling issue that I'm getting the dealer to check out next week (covered under the factory warranty).
Since I bought it in May and also live in the Seattle area, I haven't had any winter driving experience with this car yet...we'll see if we get any more crazy weather like last winter.
Gas mileage wise? I add STP's Octane Booster here-and-there and I swear I get 4-5 miles more per gallon, other wise I get 23-24 mi/gl (I have a bit of a lead-foot and VTEC a bit, too). I'm sure you can get 30 if you drove economically, which is damn good for a car with 200hp

I agree with all the positive remarks. The only two negatives I would point out are you would probably want to get a set of winter tires or a wheel/tire package from Tire Rack (not too expensive), and I would get a feel for the "rev hang" issue by doing lengthy test drives. If I had it to do over again I would not buy the Si because of the rev hang issue.

edit: The performance, reliability, and comfort to price ratio can't be matched. And the mpg and the standard features are great. But seriously, check out the rev hang.

rev hang isnt that big of a deal, you get used to it

to all three of your questions.. perfect, perfect, perfect...

the only thing is that Si is only availible in stick so if you're ok with that as your daily driver then definitely go for it

U WILL FEEL THE ROAD a lot. pot holes, bumps, spots etc

it hurts mentally when u hit those on the roads.

the trannys pretty good... took me a while to get used to its pace.... maybe cause im driving stick after 7 yrs.

mines a coupe...i think ul be fine.... but beware its MANUAL. If ur a dad ... heavy traffics gonna suck for u.

Def. Get Summer Tire package and purchase some Winter tires. All season's suck.

Only Manual. Fun for some, Sucks for others.
My 06 Si Coupe drives great in the winter.\
~310 Miles to the tank

The Si is OK, it's not all that comfortable for me though. It's fine for my daily drive, but if I had to make a commute to work, say on 30-60 minutes one way, it's so uncomfortable to me. I'd kick it to the curb if I had to use it for that. But that's subjective. Hella fun to drive though, you'll feel every road imperfection out there, the tranny is rough (needs a fluid change, that's all), the rev hang and cold start bucking and hesitation are awful (cold as in engine cold anytime of year, but more pronounced in the winter months).
Me personally, I don't recommend the car to anyone, I don't like it and wish I could go back to my Mazda3s. Fun to drive, but it's not me. Glad I leased so I can walk away from it soon.

If the roads are bad where you live, it may not be the best car. Some of the issues I have had with my car are definately due to the horrible roads where I work in MA. The car just crashes over road imperfections. I have had at least 4 alignments in 4 1/2 months, had the tires balanced at least 5 times, blew a tire at the start of this week ($270 for tire and mounting at a local place - dealer wanted $340.....), tons of rattles, clunks, bad sounds......

I really think this is an amazing little car. The engine has power when you downshift, the tranny is ok most of the time (2nd and 3rd is a problem some time in my car, especially when it was cold). On nice, decent roads, the car handles great. Unfortunately, I do a ton of driving each week in a crappy city for my job, and I am looking at other vehicles that will soak up the road a little more and not have to worry about breaking something on the car every minute or two just by driving down what they call a road.

I am surprised that a lot of people are saying you can feel the road, I never noticed. I guess since my last car was a Jeep Wrangler, my Si feels like I am floating on air.

I have an '07 Si sedan that I bought in Dec. to use as a daily driver between NYC and northern NJ (ca. 30 miles each way).

1. So far totally reliable. You can definitley hear the sporty engine but overall I find it to be a very quiet car. Comfort is great (I'm 6'1" and have plenty of room. I love the interior.) If there's a downside it's poor visibility. The 'A' pillars sometimes obscure pedestrians crossing in front of you, you can't see the nose of the car from the driver's seat, and rear 3/4 visibiltiy is not good. You'll need the side mirrors a lot. But hey... it's an absolute blast to drive! Absolutely amazing zipping through the turns at moderate speeds. I have the most fun in this car between 30 and 40 mph which makes it a great commuter (as long as traffic allows!)

2. Seems OK in the snow, no worse than any other sedan, but of course not a 4WD either. If you're trying to get out of a drift remember to turn off the VSA until you get going (then definitely remember to turn it back on!)

3. My milage has been 24-26 mpg (gradually improving since I bought it new in Dec.). On long trips I've gotten 30-35 mpg but we're talking very steady speeds for several hours, definitely not the NY/NJ commute. So... not a Prius, but not an El Dorado either.

Hope this helps!

I bought my FBP Si Sedan precisely to be my daily driver. I have an Infiniti G35 that has only seen rain once in its life. I was going to buy a G37, but couldn't justify having two garage queens sitting there as toys. I needed a car that was stylish, got good fuel economy and had decent performance. I have found all of these things in my FA5.

As for the winter, I live in Minnesota. The single greatest factor in driving in the snow and ice is tires. I bought the new Goodyear Eagle F1 A/S for the vaired weather conditions we have here in Minnesota. The tires are designed to be very good in dry and wet conditions and will do well in light snow as well.

To be honest, we have had very few major snowstorms here in Minnesota in the last few years where I live. We do have a lot of light snow and icy conditions though. If you are paranoid about driving in ice or snow, get some good Blizzaks and drive on. You won't go wrong in getting an Si. You will love it.

I have had a NHBP Si Sedan as a daily driver since December 06. Overall I've really enjoyed the car and I'm glad I purchased it.

It's not a hovercraft, you will feel the road but that's not necessarily a bad thing. I think the seats are very comfortable, even on long trips. The seats in the EX coupe really hurt my back over long trips. I replaced the stock AS tires with new Potenza RE960's and it made a huge difference in the handling road-noise and overall comfort. Best 1st upgrade IMHO is tires, if you can get it done at the dealer before it's driven and somehow do a tire trade to save some money I would recommend it.

The sedan has a slightly longer wheelbase and you can tell it's less bouncy than the coupe.

It's not the fastest car on the road but it's definitely not the slowest either. If you purchase it planning on tons of mods to make it faster then I would recommend spending the money up front and getting a faster car that's to your liking; warranty has value. It's fast enough to get me two tickets already.

Problems I've had include a waterleak in the roof and an AC water leak in the passenger side cab. Nothing major but a little concerning considering Honda's reputation.

Mileage is decent if driven conservatively. I've been able to get 36 on road trips and 28 around town. I have a Scanguage II and I seem to get a little better mileage on 91 octane rather than 93 when driven conservatively (more testing is required). Spirited driving gets a constant 23 mpg.

I did the GM Synchromesh change at 8,500 miles and it's been butter smooth. I'm at 12k now.
