First time Installing the Injen on FA5

first of all, i dont know much about cars. I have never installed anything except maybe light bulbs. last night i installed the injen cai on my fa5 which exactly had 1337 miles. Even though the installation wasnt as leet as i thought would be, having a second person there made it seem reasonable.

there are few things id like to point out about the injen cai on the FA5. first you need the right tools. i spent about 4 hrs installing this thing and half the time i was looking for the right tools. having the right extenders and easy access to the nuts and bolts wouldve saved me alot of time. Also, i found it impossible to install the intake without cutting out some of the plastic near the wheel (kitchen knives won't cut it)

One other thing is when screwing the air sensor on to the intake, plug it in first before you screw it on tight because it wont click all the way when its screwed all the way in and will fall off easily.

After long hours of bruised and cut fingers my cousin and i finally installed the black injen cai. AFter lettin it idle for about 20 minutes, i took it out and no problems. aS I DROVE IT to work today, i loved the way it sounded and seemed like it pulled a bit better than stock (in my head maybe). but this was better than my AEM CAI on my old gt-s.

i have no cel's, no rpm lag, no issues with the a/c on, and everything runs smoothly. CEpt for the fact that i dropped a small wrench in the engine bay and now its nowhere to be found...

Definitely find that wrench! You don't want it getting caught up in a moving part or flying out while you are on the highway. Most likely it is hanging out in some of your plastics down at the bottom of the engine bay.

The biggest PITA is getting everything stock out of there. Once it is all gone, installing the CAI is cake. I did not cut the plastic on mine. I don't want water spraying up in the hole and I just don't feel like putting a hole in the car. It just feels wrong to me. Hehehe.

Enjoy it.

i was told if you dont cut the plastic part, your intake would rub against the plastic and eventually put a hole in your intake? is this just an urban myth or is there actually some truth to this.

i didn't want to cut it but i was told it is mandatory.

I did not have to cut mine either. Idk I think that if it was rubbing against the plastic the plastic would get a hole in it befor the intake would. You should def. find that wrench tho.

I could see this happening only if it rubs against the metal part of the car not the plastic

If you didn't cut the fender liner, I'd reconsider if I were you. I didn't cut mine and found out the liner will push the intake tube forward far enough that it will touch the front frame member when the engine rocks. You may not hear it, but it does touch. If you decide not to cut the liner, I would keep a close eye on where the tube travels under the frame close to the filter on the end.

I just redid mine this weekend by cutting the liner so it would clear the tube and I also put a hose clamp around the area where it was touching. If it does happen to travel enough to hit the frame again, it will be hitting the hose clamp instead of the intake tube.
