Exclamation Im offically on the waiting list for an SI!

I know this topic has been killed to death but i'm looking for a little advice here, please don't lock. Here's my situation. My current lease is up in august.

I went to dealership, I asked the dealer to round out some numbers, and to see if I could get approved through AHFC. As soon as I said this he said "we might be able to get you an Si in a couple weeks, we are saying its 2-3 months just to be safe, but we could get you in faster then that." So my first thought, is B.S.

Anyways he comes back, tells me my credit is "pretty solid", he didn't mention anything about my numbers or anything about my interest rate either but he told me around $400 a month. Im not sure if this included tax etc. So I told him I planned on putting $1500 down to get around $360.

Automatically he says "so the next step is to put $500 down to get on the list" So I said, I'll come back tomorrow, and we'll do it. He calls his manager out and this guy pressures me into putting the $500 down right then and there.

With out asking me the guy puts Lo-Jack and Nitrogen tires under accesories. So the total behicle selling price comes to $21464+170 fee+ttl=$23067.

What concerns me is this guy didn't give me any numbers for financing. I really hope when the car comes in its not 10%

After I left he said "we might have one here by the end of the month, well see"

So I dont know wtf this guy is talking about, they are lying about something because how can they order an SI with my color in a couple of weeks, i've read up on this!

So my question is does this sound like a fair deal? Should they be able to tell you what interest rate you can get approved at, even if its 3 months prior? Should I go along with this, or are they trying to rip me off? I'd rather have a dealer be honest with me then lie! THANKS

Why did you let anyone pressure in to doing anything at all? And then to let them just add stuff on there without asking is crap, they are trying to take advantage of you.

Yea I know, I just wasn't thinking. This is my first time buying a car, so i'm new to this. At first I didn't realize the lo-jack and nitrogen tires. Even tho i'm sure it doest add much to MSRP its just the point of NOT asking.

Get your deposit back. Go to a different dealer.

Do NOT let them add anything to the car you don't want. You're the boss and you need to let them know that from the start. You need to go in confident and tell them that you want an Si for MSRP, with the options and color you want, or you're not spending your money there. **** them and **** their nitrogen tires. Most of all, don't EVER let them convince you to add a useless security system. If you want to get an aftermarket security system, do it yourself. Dealers overcharge for any accessory you get from them.

I'd go with you if you lived near me. Remember: YOU'RE THE BOSS. Do NOT let them walk all over you. They'll keep trying the entire time until the car is sold, don't bend. Stay strong!

You haven't signed on a loan agreement since to do so you would need the VIN number of the car. Go to your bank and check around at others for the best deal on financing. If the dealer has the best terms fine, otherwise go somewhere else. Also in the future, don't tell the dealer what you want a monthly payment to be. You can have a monthy payment of $400/mo on a Kia or on a Hummer H1, depends on amount down, length of loan, interest rate, etc. Most banks and car manufacturers have a calculator where you can do payment what ifs based on different inputs.

If you like, post your desired length of loan, payment amount, down payment and I'll go to a calculator and show you some options with various interest rates.

thanks guys! well at sticker 20,750 +ttl I was hoping to get my payments around $360 +- with $1500 Down / 60 Months. I dont know what interest rate I could get, but my credit is around 720, so i'm guessing 6-7%
There sticker was 21464 (lojack+nitro)
+170
+120
+15
----
$23,067.04 <-- Which is maybe 1k I wasn't hoping to spend.
-$1500
Total amount to be financed:
$21,567.04

I will def go to a bank, because I dont trust the dealer with that.

You apply for a loan up to a set amount. IE I applied for a loan for 25k and though I bought my Civic for 21 and change it does not matter. You only finance what you write the check out for.

The check has to be used at a real dealership not some joe schmoe lot and there are a few other rules but I've had no problems with them. Not to mention I've got great credit and the rate they gave me could not be topped by Honda finance or any local banks.

What was there asking price? MSRP or above? Its sad I dont see the demand going down for these. Most people say the demand will increase for summer for civics. I can see that in the case of the civic dx-ex but not the Si, since it takes premium fuel. 3 bucks+++ may decrease some sales. maybe we'll see better pricing by june/july? who knows?

its all a toss up.

Total amount to be financed:
$21,567.04

With the amount to be financed as $21,567 you can't get $360/mo for 5 years unless you get a 0% loan, 21,567/60 = $359.45. At 6-7% interest you will be in the $420/mo range. To get around $360, you'll need to put down $4k-5k.

My credit union has a pretty good calculator, you input any 3 of the 4 factors for a loan (interst rate, length of loan, loan amount or payment) and it calculates the 4th. The CU's main site is:

www.cefcu.com

You will have to navigate to the calculator, they were doing site maintenance when I posted this and could get the direct link.

Based on you comments, I'd agree with the other members, be careful with this dealer.

I will def go to a bank, because I dont trust the dealer with that.

SOLD last night... they wanted MSRP* + mudflaps + wheel locks + cloth protection and some other BS that totaled ~ $1500

* but the MSRP on the windows was like $22,790 ??? (should have wrote it down) But the total price on the little sticker the dealer adds to the window totaled $25K .. too high !

Dealer (Honda College Park) told me they are getting (have got) about two per month...and they were only on the lot 1-3 days. Honda Bowie hasn't got any in over a month...

I'm telling you man go to Hondas website and put in your zip code and just start calling dealerships. This is what I did and it took my a couple days but instead of having to order one or paying out my arse for one at the local dear I found my Si 70 miles away and paid MSRP on it.
