I believe there is a reason this is prevalent in the after market automotive sector. Simply because the "reputable company's" intake is easily reproducible (essentially a tube and filter) and therefore will be replicated and sold for a lower price. The amount of R&D there is required for most CAI is a couple of hours and a ruler to measure out clearance. After which a 3 inch metal tube is bent into shape, filter attached, bam! $240 dollars a piece.

Now these pwjdm intakes are quite unique and not easily reproducible (harder than just bending a tube), so I understand why it is $200 some odd dollars. I just request they make the cheapy plastic mold injection version for people like me who care more for function than form.

lack of r&d is the reason that most of the early intakes for si's cause driveability issues since most weren't used to the way the Honda MAF sensor reacted with bigger tubing. it is much more than just bending tubes just ask the creator of the X intake.

I can agree that a local example like the x intake (costing way less than $200) can be more effective than say "x" brand CAI which appears to be large diameter snake like tubing with a bit of filter on the end of it. I guess I side with users like the creator of the x intake using oem parts to lower cost and increase effectiveness rather than going out to spend $200 on a shiny CAI that very often trip up CELs and confuse MAF sensors.

So is anyone else having missfireing issues with the PWJDM intake? I installed mine Friday and it was great the first day then since yesterday it has been missfireing after switching gears under normal driving? It only does it once in a while but idle and WOT is great.

P.S. Sorry I have not read through the thread yet. Im at work so not much time.

I've got about 2.5-3k miles on mine- zero problems. Note, Hondata Flashpro is essential though.

are you running a base map, or did you have to get tuned to get it to work, and if you're running a map, which one did you use?
