Installed Injen CAI today..... wow

So, today I installed the Injen CAI on my Si sedan. I love the way you can't hear it if you are just driving normally... however, when you get on it and enter into vtec, HOLY COW... it sounds amazing! I didn't tell my wife that I installed an intake, and then took her for a drive to the store. When I merged onto the highway, she kind of looked at the car like "why the hell is the car so loud", but she didn't say anything... hee, hee, hee...

I can def. tell a difference with throttle response. Perhaps a little more HP too.

The install was pretty straight forward, however I'll need to go to home depot tomorrow to get replacement clamps for two of the hoses. The stock clamps were too small. I didn't have to cut anything like the directions said. I did take off the bumper and the wheel well, then I installed the intake. It worked fine for me without cutting a hole in the wheel well. I'll post some clips of it soon.

Mad props to Injen for creating a nice fitting product. I'm glad I chose the cai over the sri.

Um, you don't have to. Just take it off first, install the intake and then put it back on. I didn't have to cut anything. It fit fine.

about 2 hours. I did everything myself though. When you take the bumper off, keep the front grille attached to the bumper. Just take out the two allen screws and that will come off with the bumper. Keep the screws and plastic clip-insert-things that hold everything together in a safe place. You don't want to lose any. Be careful with them too, they are easy to bend/break. After the install, let the engine idol for about 10 minutes before you put everything back together, just to make sure that a CEL doesn't come on. Also, you might have to go to a hardware store and get new hose clamps. The stock ones don't fit on the new hoses. Don't worry about any leaking coolant from the throttle body. Some will leak out (about 8oz or so), but it will stop. If you put on the new hose immediately after the fluid starts leaking, it will stop.

The sound rocks, but only after you go WOT around 4k rpm's. I like it that way b/c when cruising, it sounds stock. The vtec kick isn't as noticeable but you can tell that the car pulls a little more in the high end rpms.

Oh, and you will have to take out the entire battery assembly. Even the little piece of metal that holds the wiring harness onto the metal battery base has to come off (with the 2 small screws on the left hand side), although you don't actually remove it from the wiring harness. It makes threading the intake tube to the throttle body through the engine bay easier. When you put the intake in, put it in from the bottom up (wheel well up), not from the top down. TAKE OFF THE WHEEL WELL before the install!!! If you do, you won't have to cut anything. Just install the intake, then put the wheel well/bumper back on. It will fit.... trust me.

Oh, and you could insert a small body into the new gaping hole that you have in the engine bay now that the stock intake has been removed.

If you didn't cut the wheelwell, then you must have a pretty decent-sized bulge in it.

I don't have a bulge in it. I'll take pics tonight and post them. After the install, I just put the wheel well back in and it snapped in without any force applied.

Just curious, do you get better or worse gas mileage?

mileage stays the same.... or it goes up because you end up vtec-ing a lot more often!
