3rd gear synchronizer problems. 07 FG2

I have about 1000miles on my 07 FG2. I've been noticing that went i go from 2nd to 3rd it grinds sometimes, its not my shifting though, and it also did it on the Si sedan I test drove. Anyone else notice this?

you have to change the transmission fluid to something better like gm or amsoil.

I thought that was just for smoother shifting, not for synchro issues

the synchro are bad go to the dealer and have them fix it and if it occurs again have them change the tranny. my 06 is at the dealer right now and their fixing 3rd and 4th for the same problem they tried to say it was normal but i know thats bull****. i told them if it happens again after they fix it i want a new tranny. take my advice and get it fixed or it will get worst. and changing the fluid wont help.

So this is after a change to syncromesh? You know that these tranny's are a little on the rought side, don't you? The thing won't shift all buttery smooth no matter what you do to it. Hazards of buying a much more performance oriented machine, a few driveability issues, IMVHO.

Vince is exactly right here - changing to the Amsoil MTF (as I did) makes a HUGE difference - the shifting is much smoother and no more grinding from 2 to 3; however, the tranny is NOT buttery smooth - it still is a bit notchy, but with the Amsoil EVER so much better! I'll bet it's not the synchro's........

Changing to Amsoil MTF significantly improved the 3rd gear notchiness I was experiencing in my '07 FA5. There's still a slightly exagerated resistance when shifting into 3rd gear on a cold morning (as compared to the other gears), but it's 10x better than it was before. Amsoil FTW!

Had only slight notchiness 1-2-3 but changed to Amsoil MTF thinking that would make it perfect. The improvement is there but a hint of notchiness remains. I'm fortunate I didn't have the bigger problems some have reported.

BTW, someone said somthing about over fill? I used 1.75 quarts on refill, maybe it would have been better to only put in a measured 1.6 quart like the manual calls for? Next time I'll try that amount and see if there is any improvement.
