Going up snowy driveway, why aren't both wheels spinng?!?!

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I got stuck on my sub 5 degree slope - twice - because I am a poor bum w/o winters. I got stuck because my wheels just spin endlessly. One thing that makes me wonder is why only one wheel is spinning and the other just sits.
Isn't the LSD's purpose to spin them together?

Please educate me.

Thanks.

one wheel spins because of design correct? isn't one wheel suppose to be the main wheel and the other is more for just support? or something to that effect

from wiki:

Torque Sensitive

The use of the word mechanical implies that the limited slip differential is engaged by interaction between two (or more) mechanical parts. This category includes clutch and helical limited slip differentials. For road racing, many prefer a helical limited slip differential, because it does not lock the two output shafts to spin at the same rate, but rather biases torque to the wheel with more grip by up to 80%.

it's your tires...high performance tires don't work well with ice/snow on slanted driveway..

Emergency snow shovels are $5.00 at a local hardware store & fold up the size of large shoe box. Hell keep it in the box if your worried about the other stuff in your trunk.

I'll just stop there and not bash you for starting this thread.

if your VSA is on it will not engage. The VSA will apply the brakes to the slipping wheel to keep "stability" turn it off and turn your steering wheel a little and give it some gas in 2nd while slipping the clutch. If you have summer tires you are infinitely more ******

Probably one spun because only a little load was applied. Next time it spins try getting on the pedal HARD. Betcha see a posi burn then. The Si do have the lsd. I left an easy 100ft posi mark on dry pavement the only time I tried it hard.
