AMSOIL MTF = butter smooth!!!

my canadian 07 si got changed to AMSOIL MTF today. and WOW what a difference. like many of u, i've experience the 2nd gear mechanical notchy feel from 1st to 2nd (no grind) and 3rd grind due to that extra little gap which prohibits me to fully engage 3rd gear. these problems r enhanced when it is cold winter mornings.

but after the short drive from dealer to home, i can feel the significant improvement. it's hard to believe, but it worked wonders. just wanted to share my experience with fellow 8th gen owners who experienced tranny problems.

feel free to ask me anything questions.

OK!

How many miles on your car when you changed the MTF?

Did the dealer say anything about a newer version of the Honda MTF being available?

Did the dealer say anything about warranty issues regarding:
-any non-Honda fluids in the trans
-synthetic vs. dino in the trans

Ok how much of this stuff do we need to buy if we decide to change it out?

Also, just wondering if its safe for our cars? I've heard in the past if you used anything other then Honda transmission fluid in honda's they will **** the transmission up. How true is all of this?

Thanks bud

yes i told dealer to put AMSOIL in, they have no problem doing that. i did this when i got my 1st oil change to Mobile 1 too. i have yet to feel any diff with Mobile 1, but i havn't got a chance to rip it yet as it's winter.

my car has 9000km.

dealer knows jack shit about new MTF, i've ask the parts to show me the new MTF, but unlike the U.S. where the new MTF has a green label, canadian's label remain the same. so i asked the part guy if this is the NEW MTF, and he's like "err...i think so...this is the 06 catalog". so i decided not to take my chances and get something that i know works for most ppl.

dealer has nothing to say about warranty, what r they going to do? lab test my MTF and find out it's non-Honda and not cover me?!

hope this helps

2 bottles is all u need. dealer told me i needed 3 bottle of 1L MTF, but i didn't believe him since all they do is LIE! so i asked a fellow poster here to get the answer.

i worried about the safety part too, so i waited till now to change it since there are many other owners who switched to AMSOIL, and the fact that grind was REALLY bothering me. like engine oil, different brand tranny oil won't fuk up ur tranny. but if u want to be REALLY safe, then get the honda MTF. ur choice dude.

Damn, I would of thought after a year they would have most of the bugs worked out on the car.

I've done the tranny fluid swap on my dad wrx and my 300zx tt.. It def helps, but I am unsure about the long term effects.

When I pick up my 07 and it has the grinding issue I'll inform my dealer and give it some time.

They may change over to the reformulated Honda MTF which may help. I changed my 07 Si Sedan over to Amsoil MTF at 1000 miles - much smoother now. Also, any dealer telling you that it voids your warranty is full of SH**. As long as the MTF meets the certifications required by Honda (Amsoil exceeds those certs) then they can not void your warranty - by law. That would be like them saying you can only use Honda Oil or Honda gas (if they had Honda gas) in your car - not legal for a manufacturer to do that.

Good info, thanks. Amsoil is the sh*t when it comes to fluids too.

Another happy Amsoil MTF user here. I had my dealer put it in my EX, but my Si is getting some too, no questions asked from the dealer. The one Tech wanted to know where I got it actually becuase they have had other Si owner's ask about it.

I am using Walmart windshield washer fluid though, so I guess my warranty is void???
