HydroPlane [All season tires suck!]

Well about 8:35pm last night on my way home from work on I-85 North I noticed my tires were losing traction for most of the way home, wheater really sucked and it was raining pretty hard, it wasn't till taking a slight curve near spaggiti junction on the highway I hydroplaned and started fish-tailing with the back end coming [hard right] then [hard left] then complete 180 a$$ end sliding right across the highway into the divider wall in the HOV lane, when i realized that i wasn't going to save it, sliding backwards mind you in on incoming traffic, and caught the the divider walll in the corner of my eye I finally said ****-it and slammed the brakes. Passenger side curtain air bags deployed and I was sure that the whole passenger side was screwed... all I gotta say is I love my honda and to everyones amazement I was able to drive away.

Unfourtunately my buddies s2000 wasn't as fortunate yesterday when he flipped off a wall.

Not a good day for honda's in the atl yesterday.

Yeah, thats what i was going to ask. Since I moved here from NY i am very careful about how i drive in the rain here. The drainage isnt quite the same and it seems like they design roads like \/ here instead of /\, so it seems like all the water pools in the middle of the road instead of the sides. People seem to be very nervous here when they drive in any sort of bad weather (I am not saying you are).......just an observation. Glad to hear you made it out of this unharmed.

The factory Michelin tires are decent general purpose tires .....There are a lot of better tires on the market for wet traction.

Hmmm ..... we're you going under 50-mph?

I've never had good traction with these tires but have been procrastinating until some more tread wears down. I was in fifth gear, so can't really tell you, cars were flying by me when it happened though

I am commuting everyday from 316 to BuckHead and that commute definitely sucks, mostly in the morning with all that freaking construction.

I seem to recall the MX being one of the WORST tires for the rain, per the Car&Driver comparison test in 2005. Right up there with Azenis

Just about everyone here in the South drives like a f--king moron. People drive too fast in the rain, tailgate, drive on the shoulder and blow through redlights that are already red, not just pushing the yellow, which also includes having at least 5 cars make their turns against oncoming traffic when the light turns green. I forgot to mention the people in SUVs or pickups doing 80-90 with trailers and/or unsecured loads, often in the rain. No passing zones are just for us displaced Yankees and you can tell the non-locals by the lack of body damage to their vehicle (as well as by the lack of A] confederate flags B] NASCAR-related stickers and, less-significantly, C] stickers with Bible verses, anti-*** marriage stickers and pro-W stickers).

I narrowly have avoided getting rear-ended more often than I can remember, and getting taken out by some dumb bitch in a Durango trying to pass me on an uphill grade doing over 80 and spinning out, causing a chain-reaction/gawker wreck in the oncoming lanes involving a half-dozen other vehicles, including a semi hauling 10,000 gallons of liquid nitrogen. I've had a gun pointed at me when I must not have moved over fast enough for some inbred tailgating me in traffic in an F-250 and horns have been blown and gestures made when, god forbid, I actually stop at a redlight. I've seen some dingbat in an Expedition practice her spin recovery in traffic while talking on her cell phone and swerving to avoid hitting the stopped/slow traffic she was previously oblivious to. Also have had someone spin out just behind me while doing the same at an exit ramp with stopped traffic down the ramp.

When he flipped, his arm got cut up from all the broken glass, he looked a little pale and complained about his neck and back hurting, anyway the medics took the regular safely precautions...

needless to say he's freaking paranoid about his next car flipping and gutting it to put in a roll cage. I told him to chill, but I can't really blame him

I agree with the tires being shitty....I had half tread left and was doing 10 mph making a left turn in the rain and slid into the curb. Alot of other times they were spinning when vtec kicked in when in first. They were great until like I said about half-way worn. I switched to Kumhos as well and I love them

I can't really disagree too much with you, I've lived in Georgia my whole life and whitness firsthand the craziness. SUV's where blowing by me that night even while I was spinning. Sh*t the cop who tried to stop four lanes of traffic so I could turn out had cars blowing the horn as they went around him too
