Thinking of getting an 08 SI Sedan
When they come out of course...
This will be my 2nd post. Originally signed up in Aug 06 when I brought a 06 EX Sedan (check my first post). I ended up taking it back next day. Didn't put miles on it other then driving it home from dealer. Didn't get charged anything.. Reasons for taking EX Auto back. 1) Inside I really wanted a manual but didn't know how to drive one 2) Credit was not great so although I could afford to pay finance charge without any problem I would've ended up paying so much more in the end that overshadowed the happiness of having the car and all I thought about was that. Those are two main things. Have credit taken care of now, but I'll be buying the 08 Cash. Just trying to decide on a few things. To navi or not to navi? Had navi in my ex sedan. Liked it for the time I used, have to see how compatible it is with ipod though. Didn't find specifics yet, but from the threads I came across most say it doesn't work. Ex sedan Manual or Si Sedan. That's my next thing. More powerful rare car that you really want or better gas saver as I drive a lot? I'm about 99.999999999999999999% sold on the SI, but I'm like the members feedback on SI -vs- EX manual, and more importantly as this is the SI forum why you choose it. Also I know this has more then likely been asked before. I run a few non car related forums so I know how the search feature goes. Just trying to get active on site and get some insight as views change over time. At time I made my first post had no idea I'd be back in my old car the next day. Love my current civic btw, will keep also. Just NEED a new car. |

About the navi: While I do like having a navi, etc., i personally got one w/o it for the sake that I plan on getting an aftermarket setup some time in the future.
EX vs Si: It's really up to what you're willing to sacrifice. The EX will give you better gas mileage hands down, but the driving experience from an Si is a difficult one to pass up. I chose the Si simply due to the driving experience. The high speed turning, the screaming vtec, the LSD working over time, it's difficult NOT to redline it several times/day (beware of tickets tho hehe). On my Si sedan, I get about 25 mpg (50% city/50% hwy w/ a lot of short trips). If i take long hwy trips, i can get up to 30 mpg. I have heard of some people taking the EX for the gas mileage and slapping on some Si parts (i.e. Si rear sway bar) to give the aggressive cornering experience while maintaining a high mpg. The bottom line is think about what YOU want and what YOU can live with. |

Yea that's true. What it comes down to is what I want. I want the SI, that's what I'm sure I'll be going with. Gas is my main reason for wanting the EX, but I know I'll be kicking myself bad.
Never though of the Hybrid, I have a HX now though and I really hate CVT so I'll rule that out. Thanks for the suggestion though. Appreciate any feedback on why you chose SI. Thanks for responses so far |

I chose Si for it's .91G ability on the skid pad. The thing handles unbelivable for a car in this class. This thing does not know what corners are, it handles them like they simply aren't there! A Great drive!
If it weren't for the Si, I wouldn't probably even own a Civic. |

I have an 07 Si Sedan w navi...and I love the car. It is a blast to drive and the power compared to my 00' Si (160 hp) isn't even comparable. I carpool to work so I only drive it 2-3 days per week depending on if I am MWF or TTH. I miss the car when I don't drive...but it makes me happy to know that it is sitting in the garage. The OEM navi is great. There are many debates on here about OEM nav vs aftermarket. I can break it down for you real quick. Those that have OEM love it and don't regret the choice..those that don't think its a huge waste of money and really want DVD playback. For me it completes the look of the car, is fully intergrated (voice command

Yea I had an 06 Ex sedan so I got to get use to the Navi. I loved it. Wouldn't go aftermarket, OEM was perfect to me. If 160 to 197 you can feel a big difference then I wonder how it will feel from my 97 HX which has I believe 115 hp I believe. I'm sold on SI, can't wait.
For Ipod I thought about aux jack but then it doesn't really let you control songs on the screen (not sure if the ipod connector lets you either). PC slot should be good. Will see how the IPod goes but if all else fails that's not bad. |

Don't waste your time on an EX...I went from a 98 Civic EX manual, motor swapped the JDM B16 (170 hp) with some mods, went to a 99 Audi A4 1.8T, and then to my 07 Si Sedan...I can't even explain how different it is. It's not just the motor, but the trans, LSD, suspension, interior...it's soooo worth getting the Si.

I am gettin the 07 si COUPE, I am one of those that prefer the coupe any day to a sedan, have you thought of the coupe man? As, for navi, I think it is a waste of cash, I go with the base model si with no adds and get the deal, I don't need navi, I know my city man.
