how much oil does everybody lose?

There's a few threads on here about burning oil, so I guess it's pretty common with our cars. But how much is too much? I check at least once a week, and sometimes I'll lose none, sometimes half a quart, sometimes more. One time I forgot to check for ~2 weeks, and when I checked there wasn't any oil on the dipstick at all. Is this part of owning an 8th Si or do I have a problem?? [car runs fine]

No oil on the dip stick sounds pretty bad...My old rsx used to burn .25-.50 quarts of oil on weekly long hwy commutes; my used Si burned about 1/4 quart for the first oil change interval but has stopped since. What kind of oil are you using?

I used AMSoil last change, but I don't want to pay for the really good oil if it's just pissing it away. So I've been topping off with Mobil 1 full synthetic.

My car has burned a quart every oil change off the factory floor. Now that I'm boosted I change my oil every 1000 miles and it usually uses less than a quart but is pretty dark... My buddys 08 FA5 used the same amount from day one too.

I've also noticed that different types of oil will run differently in your car for example my car tended to use more oil if i used Vavoline vs Castrol. Also I would NEVER run royal purple again. I've had 2 motors blow up with that oil, plus its over priced IMO

does our high compression = burning oil? I know boosted cars do it, but I've never heard of it on NA

3600 miles on my oil and I've only hit vtec 2 or 3 times and still used little more than .25 quart. Last oil change I had done some racing around and I think I added around .5-.7 of a quart by the time I hit 4000 miles

Drove about 170 miles today to import alliance and burned half a quart of oil on the dipstick. Had to top it back off on the return journey home. I have a oil pressure gauge as well to monitor oil pressure and usually I get lower than 10 to 11psi on idle if I lost a quart or more of oil. I also check my dipstick every morning before I drive so my oil is usually always full

I'm all hopped up on Junk 2!!!

I drive 100 miles a day highway for work and then drive it anywhere else I need to go on top of that... I don't burn any oil, or at least such a small amount that it isn't noticeable between oil changes. I also beat the hell out of it when I drive because it is a Civic Si and that is what they do best!

I run M1 0w-30. No oil burning issues at all.. I used to burn oil all the time when I used M1 5w-30.

6k oil changes with Mobil 1 5w-30 and maybe 1/4qt in 6k miles. When i used to park outside at work in real cold weather I noticed I would burn more, but not much at all.

For reference:
