I dont care what you say, I drive an 8th gen Si.

So I'm getting frustrated with people delcaring that the Si is a 6th gen when the 06/07 civics are 8th gen. Just because Honda of America didn't market an Si during certain generations doesn't mean that the new Si isn't still an 8th gen civic. If you walked into a parts store and told them you needed a timing belt for a 6th gen civic Si, guess what: you'd get one for a B16 and not a K20! And yes, I specified Honda of America here...in Canada, they marketed the Civic EX as an Si, thus making a 5th gen (92-95) Si, even though we didn't have that fancy sticker on the american models.

Get over it, it's still an 8th gen Civic Si.

end rant

I have to agree with you, but remember that 8th Gens do not have a timing belt in the first place, so I don't suggest you go and try to find one

sorry you're wrong. the si is in its 6th gen no matter what gen the civic itself is in.

I don't get the K20 and B16 and 6th gen and 8th gen...the car has a year and make and model. I guess that's not good enough for ya'll?? LOL

it's an 07 Civic Si. Works fine for me. If I walked into any parts store in my area (the big name stores) and asked for something for an 8th gen Civic, they'd laugh and go "a WHAT!?!?!"

oh hush it was just a comparison. it just seems like nonsense to me, i mean the Si is almost identical to the EX, just with a different drivetrain and suspension, but otherwise pretty much the same...and then try and say it's a 6th gen Si. I understand your point of view being it's only the 6th offered Si generation, I get it...but to me it just seems pointless. Why don't we have www.6thgensi.com instead then?

Well, I can see both sides of the argument.

The 2006+ Si is technically the 6th generation of the Si name. However, it is extremely similar in looks to the non-si models, and as a result, people consider it part of the 8th generation of Civics.

So put it this way.

The 2006+ Civic Si is part of the 8th generation of Civics, however, the Si nameplate has only been around for six generations.

And for the last part, why it's not 6thgensi.com, is because this site is for owners from the 8th generation of Civics, not just Si owners.

Repped OP!!!!

Yes it's the 6th generation the SI has been around but the SI is not a completely different model in itself. It's still a civic. A civic in SI trim.

So if it IS a 6th gen SI, for all you Sedan owners, enjoy your 1st gen Sedan SI. Let's just start it all over for everything! Seriously. There's more trade off parts on an EX coupe and an SI coupe than an SI coupe and SI Sedan. Hey so actually you guys are wrong. I don't have a 6th gen SI. I have a 2nd gen SI coupe. Wait, no that's not right. I own a 1st gen SI with a 2.0l motor. Or is it the 4rd gen SI with power windows? Let's get really retarded if that's how people are going to say it.

Technically generation would mean it falls in line with the previous. Since the Si has skipped generations of the Civic, it's body styles, etc do not fall into a generational timeline. Technically, it should be the 6th incarnation/embodiment/incorporation/what-have-you of the Si on the 8th generation of the Civic platform.

If you came into the store i worked in and asked for something for an 8th gen SI, theyd probably either radio me and ask or just stare blankly.
