What a dumbass for putting it into 4th..... Doesnt the rev limiter not work when you downshift?

for the ToV video

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=de9D93bYaIk

the top speed they reach is 157 mph, but is that because the dyno was done without the wheels?

just wondering, thanks.

Am I seeing this right? 9 miles on the odometer, it's on a dyno, AND it was mis-shifted twice?

Jesus Christ, I feel bad for that car. Assuming it even lasts it's going to have a long and hard life ahead of it.

Alot of variables here.....first and most important, there's no resistance. The hubs are free spinning, not pulling any of the cars weight. No wind resistance which I'm sure is significant at 140+, and road conditions...aren't any on a dyno

No i believe that he hit 161, because a few days ago i was going to matawan and i was going 147 in 5th at only 5200 rpm, so there was a lot more room to go faster, i have a stock 06 si from new jersey

Has anyone every misshifted but not been able to get it to go in? I'm pretty sure I was going from 3rd at redline to 2nd accidentally but it didn't go in luckily. The salesman that sold my car also told me that this was a safety feature built into the Si that wouldn't allow the Si to downshift into a gear too low to avoid damage. I guess he was tellin me a story and i got lucky that day?

No, when it was happening I wasn't even watching the tach, only when I left and watched the video did I see how it revved. Plus what am I gonna do, go back to his shop and break some windows? Shit happens, lesson learned.

No, you're not seeing right. The picture of my tach I took upon delivery of my vehicle, and dug it up to apply that screenshot of the over-revving. I can't remember how much it had at the time of the dyno, like 2000 or 2500 miles.

A stock Si going 147 in 5th? you mean 147 km/h? If you mean mph, I don't believe you, not stock.

Hmmm, well obviously my car doesn't have it in 4th. But now that you mention it I think I have heard of this, I don't think our cars have it though. There's a thing that will prevent you from shifting into reverse, that's about it.

9,700 rpm is a pretty big over-rev. You may not notice anything right away but I wouldn't be suprised if the effects of it start showing up sometime. I've read a few over-rev stories (one on vtec.net right now) and a couple of them stated that everything seemed okay for a few weeks and then the damage became apparent.

Damage caused by over-rev is not covered by warranty either (nor should it be). It's like crashing your car and then asking Honda to cover it.

I hope for your sake that nothing truly was/is damaged.

The TOV SI topped off at 157 MPH. I dont know why yours only did 133 mabe because it was KPH? instead of MPH? something does not sound right. I believe the SI can go to 157MPH no problem with better tires.

I don't the S2000 tops out at 149 and it is WAY more aerodynamic and has more power also, the SRT-4 tops out at 151 ish and it has WAY more power with just as much aerodynamics.

I agree that the Si wont be able to reach 157 stock and with regular conditions. But my question still remains why did the Si in teh video stop at 133? Tov went up to 157 when it was limited

ToV used a 2006 US model. I used a 2007 Canadian model. Therein the difference lies.

So the US model 07 SI is the same as the 06 SI just reflashed and still goes up to 157 MPH right?
