Seriously if that is the best you get than there is something not quite right. Either you are slipping the clutch too much or you are hitting VTEC every 5 seconds. The worst gas mileage I got was on my first tank with mostly city driving and it was around 24 mpg. Now with these crazy temperatures that we have been having (-5 below and -25 windchill) my gas mileage has gone down some but I am still averaging around 25mpg with mostly city and some stop and go highway miles. Usually in the summer that will go back up to around 28mpg average. |

But I usually try to keep my RPMs above 2700, more often in the 3k to 4k range. I wonder if that messes with my MPG. The reason I do so is I feel like I might be bogging the little engine down if I try and accelerate below 2700 if I'm not in first gear or second gear. |

Yes, short commutes, even all highway, can affect your MPG. If this is your "trip to work, and trip home" your car (even with the coolant temps at normal) is still 'running cold' and this will affect your MPG to a certain extent.
My commute to work is about 8 miles; almost all highway. If that is the 'only' miles I put on my Si (which I don't drive daily, so I had to purposely 'test' this) my MPG suffers by about 2mpg, compared to other short commutes such as driving around the beltway, around town, etc., with a 'warmed' engine. Of course, adding lots of stoplights, traffic, etc. will reduce you MPG to the very low end of the 'estimated' section. Crappy winter gas does not help either (about 1.5mpg difference vs. my summer MPG on 'similar' routes...) That said, I've had a few tanks that were in the 22.x/23.x range. However, those were either (1) buzzing about on SR168/Overton/Pahrump runs (lots of high revs), (2) traffic filled nightmares, or (3) craptastic short morning/evening commutes combined with one of the above. I thought I was getting really crappy gas mileage till I looked in here... and I am about average.
Means my wife is getting waaaaay above average in her Si. I blame the HFP kit and HFP 18's on my car, weighing it down. I get about 22-23mpg My wife is up around 29-30mpg I guess I wear heavier shoes than her!

I got 29.34 MPG on my SI. I vtec maybe 4-5 times and it was on 91 octane gas. I drove it at speed limit and I would say average speed was somewhere between 70-72MPH.
I am now driving it harder then usual and will post what I get, btw running at 93 octane right now. 750 miles btw |

The best city mileage I have ever gotten was 25mpg. Actually I always get around 25mpg average with mostly city driving. Never drive Highway for long periods or time. But I think I would get 28-30 Highway tops. Question. What's a FP60? |

I have 600 miles on my si sedan and i checked the mileage the other day. I kept revs below 4000, I drove normal accelerating with normal traffic. Did not floor it even 1 time. Obeyed the speed limits most of the time. The result: 33.15 mpg in city. The a/c was not on much. I was in light stop and go traffic for 10-15 minutes. I filled up, drove for 52 miles ( I can't keep my foot out long) and filled up again. I feel I could attain the same or close maybe around 30mpg if i keep driving like a wuss. Yea I'm gonna do that....right. But anyway, i just wanted to know how good it was capable of. I have noticed full throttle runs use alot of fuel. I did the same thing a few days before but I made 2 0-80 mph runs and I raced a z28 and I got 26mpg. Went the same distance and same city driving.
