There is a big difference in gas mileage between when my wife drives it and when I drive it. My wife doesn't take the time to calculate mileage, but I would estimate in the 23 mpg range (mixed driving - either idling or floored). When we first got the car I took it on a "somewhat" road trip (town was 70 miles away, went back and forth 2 times in a weekend) and got 33 mpg. I just filled it up yesterday after doing some mostly interstate driving (3 round trips to a town 50 miles away) and got about 30.5 mpg. The latest one included several short trips and a fair amount of warm up time (it's 30-40 deg F outside). I can definitly see someone getting over 35 out of it if you drive nice on a road trip.

It is a 'bit downhill, but lets be real: Las Vegas 2028' - San Berdoo 1200' - Whittier 300'. So an 800' elevation change from vegas to San Berdoo and another 900 to Whittier. I'll give it a bit, but my return mileage was comprable to my outbound so I have to disagree. (Fill before leaving, fill at destination...drive on fill until about to leave, fill for trip, fill when back in Vegas, all so I know what my true HWY MPG was). I'll certainly give that the hill out of San Berdoo and the hill out of Baker are gas eaters, however, the hill out of Baker on the far side is just as bad, then it is slight ups and downs, then a gradual uphill climb to the Cajon pass, then down again. If you just 'have' to go significantly over 65, you are going to get well below 30 for the just about any road trip. (As a reference today I was looking at MPG at 80mph on a flat stretch and it was 24.5mpg, rapidly dropping below 20 on any sort of mild incline)

I can drive about Vegas and get over 30mpg quite readily by just using cruise when I can and not going over 65 (if I am trying to 'see' what I can get on a fill), however, as I stated in my first reply, that is not what the car is about, just a bit of an odd obsession by a few owners to see what they can squeeze out by using their OBDII scanner.

My last 'fill' was a good example of when I just don't care about mileage: 25.5mpg (just filled tonight), which included quite a bit of 80+ roads, spirited Spring Mountain Ranch driving, and some zipping around Mt. Charleston.

Months 1-3, I was getting around 25mpg (Break in Period and testing out 6000rpm+ Zone)
Months 4-8, ~ 32mpg (My work was mostly freeway drive 70% HWY 30% Street)
Months 9-present ~28 (I changed locations for my work and it is all Non-Highway Driving)

My best gas mileage was ~38mpg+ All Highway going on a vacation with full family and camping equipment.
I put 450 miles on one tank with still 2 bars left. I was following some friends that were driving 70 on the Highway so that probably helped on the gas mileage since I normally do 80-85mph.

I get around 22-23mpg after calculations cause when ever I fill up I only fill up like 10.5-11 gallons with like 1 dot left. Drive on sort of hilly roads (202, 309, 63 around the montgomery mall area for those who live in PA). Hopefully it will get better only got like 2600 miles on her(07 si).

Here's my file for calculating all things gas related. It has my first few fillups already so you'll have to delete those. Basically you enter the information in the red spots, including the date, the number on the trip ODO (or main ODO, it doesn't matter -- I use one trip ODO to reset to 0 at every fillup and one to collect mileage since purchase, and my main ODO is 50 miles higher than trip A, so you can adjust accordingly to your car), the gallons purchased, the number of days since last fillup (it doesn't do this automatically right now), and the price per gallon, and it spits out miles accrued, MPG, miles/day, miles/year (at that rate of consumption), total cost, $/mile, $/day, and $/year (at that rate).

It also keeps the averages, and at the bottom of the first tab the sum of what you've paid for gas. Currently you do have to update the other red cell, F3, basically changing it from F8 to F9 for the next fillup, then F10, and so on, for the averages line to work right. Note also I'm not including my first fillup (line 6) in most of the calculations, only the next two fillups.

The other tabs have various graphs.

You may have to rename the file after saving to your computer, rename the part after the . to "zip" and then double click on it to drag out the Excel file.

I always buy my gas at the same station and pump when possible.

Got 26 MPG on My First Tank Of Gas (surprised)

Well it was actually 25.9 M.P.G. This was my first full tank of fuel. I was expecting about 22-23 mpg for my first tank of gas during break-in. I did hit V-Tec quite a few times. I drove about 70% highway and 30% city.

(And for a first tank on the Si, that is pretty good, particularly since most folks rev about town on their first tank)

Merged with the Civic Si Gas Mileage thread.

Nope, I believe the famous 'Justin' got a tank of 13mpg, and 16 mpg. One of his famous 'whine, whine, whine' threads. 18.8 is pretty crappy though. Winter gas could be affecting you. My mileage is down a few due to crappy winter mix gas.

No no, it's not 18.8, that's the miles per day; it's 21.1 for MPG. Still pretty low though. I'd like to see 24 next time.

Sorry, my mistake.

"These old eyes just don't care for to see much good anymore, sonny."

21'ish is not great, but not terrible either, particularly if you drive with a bit of 'spirit'.

Now where did I leave my teeth?

Unhappy AVG: 22.19 - Stock

According to my log book on www.losangelesgasprices.com, my avg mileage is 22.19. That's about 75% highway...

The members who are getting more than 28, how are you keeping track of your mileage?

Evil06Si: 39.8??? Wow....

Point me in the direction of Scangauge and driving habits. What are the good shift points?

It's going to be hard to drive this thing "softly" as it's deceptively smooth and doesn't feel like it's even working hard if you keep the RPMs below 5000 yet drive spiritly.
