Scion tC vs. Civic SI (non-race related)
I want to know what you guys think about the 2 cars:
Scion tC and the Civic SI -Which one's better and which do you perfer? The tc is running about 161 hp and has 2.4 liters The SI is running about 197 hp but has only 2.0 liters. Just give me your opinion. Thanks. |

Myself, I would say absolutely everything about the Si is better than the tc. Nicer looking in and out, more power, more features etc..

When I was in the market for a new sporty 4-cylinder car I looked at the Tc's as an option. To be perfectly honest I went to the Toyota dealership sat in one for about 30 seconds and left. They have a very plain interior, I did not like it at all. I didn't even bother to test drive it. When I sat in the Si it just gives you that "WOW" feeling the first time that you sit in it. The seats just hug you when you sit in them, I love the 2 tiered dash, very innovative, and almost 200 HP our of a N/A!!!! My opinion hands down, Si ![]() |

Even if this post was on a TC forum, I think the answers would be the same lol...no comparison, the TC is nice, dont get me wrong...I looked into one when I was looking for a new car...Very sluggish, but nice...Just the SI is so much nicer, faster and more 'rare'...Everytime I see a TC it is being driven by a 16 yr old girl, no offense...

I'll bite...
I agree that you're probably going to get biased opinions. Having driven both extensively and decided to try a Civic, here are my impressions: Both cars are very well built and reliable. Both represent excellent value as well as being stylish (a subjective quality, of course) and are really pretty practical. Mileage isn't awful on the Scion, but the Civic will certainly squeeze more miles out of a gallon of gas. Resale values, as a percentage of the price paid, are probably pretty similar. Based strictly on absolute dollars, I'd guess that the Scion may cost you less when you go to sell it. The Civic gets the nod from me based on interior/exterior design (I just like the Honda "style" more) and overall engineering quality. The Scion gives me the impression that it was designed to meet a price point. While Honda has done the same, the quality of the drivetrain as well as other major components imparts a greater attention to quality and detail. Minor things on the Civic (like sun visors) need not be mentioned. In short, I think this kind of choice boils down to your personal preferences. Both cars are excellent coupes, especially when you consider their prices. The bottom line is: which looks nicer to you and which fits (in every sense of the term) you better? Hope this helps... :) |

The SI has more power, better mileage, smaller motor, lsd, and imo looks sooooo much better. PLus any honda is > toyota. I love all japenese cars but the SI by far in EVERY way is better than a TC. My buddy is getting a TC and im getting and EX and i bet ill be able to take him. because its 140hp/130tq but 3000 pounds, and the TC is 160/160 but its heavier by a couple hundred pounds. But yah we'll see all i know is that the EX gets literally almost twice as good of mileage as the TC and is jsut as quick. so an SI is just haaaands down SI hehe. but im not hating the TC is a very cool car too

Cripes. tC vs. Si thread number 27. Search much? These are almost as bad as 'do I have to use premium', 'what is your MPG', or even better 'will this void my warranty'.
Better yet, search for the same thing on the scionlife forums and you will get nearly exact opposite opinions as you get here... /runs shrieking into the night.

And to be honest, an auto scion tc can beat a M/T non-si civic. But ehh with 160torque at 4K hmm it doesnt sound too bad at all. Money's on the si though ![]() |
