I totally agree with 3rd gear not sticking into place and then that awful grinding noise. what's up with that?

Ditto here sometimes. Have to be real precise with 3rd gear otherwise it bites back.

Oddly, I've never had a problem with 3rd. Nice read though, it's good to see people still praising the car after having it long-term. :)

I don't know if you guys have figured this out, but when he mentions the cruise control problem about not increasing speed sooner - I found that tapping on the increase button instead of holding it down works much better.

Edmunds Long-Term Si test

The Edmunds Long-Term Si Road Test is interesting.

Scroll down the above page to the link where you can Read the Honda Civic Si's real-time logbook entries and comment, if you so desire.

Regards,
Glenn in CT

P.S. Pehaps this is a duplicate post, but I did not see this when searching this site on the word "Edmunds."

The only problem is that article was written in February of this year. I wouldn't call 1,800 exactly "long-term". However, i did get an issue of Road and Track the other day and the Si is mentioned twice. Once as one of the best cars under $30,000 and again as their long-term test vehicle. Both reviews were praising.

The log notes are up-to-date though. I'd say that it's a pretty accurate assessment.

I gotta be honest, I guess in the grand scheme of things I shouldn't be complaining, but the number one concerns I have about this car over time is that the paint is going to go to shit after a few years due to its absolutely unacceptable condition as it is (even with being pampered better than myself), and the interior being worn due to use.

I know some people don't have any wear and tear issues in their interior, but the floor mats are worn where my feet go for the brake/clutch, and I can see wear starting to form on the Si seats.

Blow on the Si's paint the wrong way and you'll get a scratch.
