2009 Owners, Regrets on buying a soon outdated car?

With the new models coming out in 2011 and all the new models other car companies coming out (i.e MazdaSpeed 3, 2010 VW GTI, Subaru WRX) do u guys feel like you are buying an dated car? I love my SI but i always wondered how people would buy the last years model of a generation. I know with the 2009 we got another year to savor the goodness but the new 2011 is just around the corner, and with all the new cars coming out it kinda bums me out. I had no choice but to buy the car at the time of purchase. What are your guys input?

when the new civics come out they are going to have to wait for aftermarket companies to develop new parts and are going to have to wait a while for good stuff to come out. i mean look how long it took tuning companies to break our ECU and we are just now getting badass turbo kits and what not.

I heard 2010 is the last year for the civic si. Either way, who cares? It's like buying a new computer. It's dated as soon as you leave the store. You're not supposed to buy the car you like now. You're supposed to buy the car you're going to keep liking, throughout the years.

No regrets. The Si is cheaper than all the other options I looked at, while retaining most of the features of the competition and adding Honda's legendary resale value.

Buying a 2009 I feel like I got the best model!

Lemmie explain:
First of all, I NEVER like to buy the first year of ANY car. All new models have some sort of problems the first year that need to be worked out. In the case of the Si, it was the 3rd gear issue (and it took a couple of years to fix). But in the 09's, smooth as butter.
Plus, the 2009's have an updated look and will be the "most current version" for two years... bout' right for most new cars. As far as compared to other models (Speed3, WRX), I tried a couple of different cars, and while it was not the fastest choice, speed is not all I cared about. The Si was exactly what I wanted: a fantastic value (I got mine for $18,500), was quick, reliable, good on gas, and perfectly rounded for how I use a car. So, no, I don't feel that this car is outdated at all!

I love the Si, that's why I bought it. When I go to get another one in about 5 years, the new model will have the kinks worked out and the cycle will continue......assuming I like the new one.

yeah, you thinking about that is like me thinking, "damn, I just bought my 370Z..but the 390Z will probably be out within the next 5 years."

there will always be newer/better coming out. if you always waited, you'd never own a car.

Nope, the 09 was the refresh and in my opinion the coupe is outfitted and looks nicer (i love the front grill).

Besides all that, my former car died in 2009, and this car was the best available car for the price. If it died in 08, i would own a 2008 Si, the pattern continues for 07 and 06!

Si's aren't common around here anyways, and I am the only 09 coupe i have seen in my town, but there are 5 other 06-08s.

You checked the residuals on civic's and SI's? It doesn't matter who has what, they're high demand cars...they hold their value well and last I read the new civic is coming out in 2011 as a 2012 MY and even if it comes out as a 2011 who cares?

If it comes out and its a lot better I'll sell the 09 and buy one, if not I'll probably wait to see how the reliability data looks on the 07+ gti as an indicator of the 2010+ cars which I absolutely adore.

Cars are always going to be outdated. Thats how it is. Thats how money is made. Lets say 2011 Civic Si has 240 hp(random) a year after Mazda comes out with another car in its class with 320 hp and the same price range. Sigh the only way to keep up to date its to buy the new model every time it comes out, but who does that right?(Lots of people)

not not at all.
i don't like to buy new model either just like everyone stated.
When i bought 6th generation 2000 civic ex back when i was 16, i hated 7th generation civic-
and new model year coming out 2011 fall? that's another 2 years. i couldn't wait that long and if i wait for those i'll never get a new car.

No regrets at all here. I've had my 09 Si for almost a year, and I still feel as if I got it just a few days ago. It's a great car for the price. Not a gas guzzler, reliable, great features, awesome look (I got a coupe). I drive it everyday and still enjoying it. Plus, the sucker's got potential.

No regrets here. I love the 09 and still will even if the next model looks better.
