caliper paint ?

i already painted my calipers red using the diy on this site, however i did a terrible job.(i used the brush kit). i want to re-do it, actually take the calipers off and spray them so its even.

do i need to strip the old paint? how do i go about doing this?

I also painted my calipers, and even though I did a pretty good job, they got tore up from driving around in the winter up here. So I'm in the same situation as you, and the idea that I had was to throw a thin layer of primer on top of the previous paint, smooth it out, and then just use a better paint and more coats right on top. Anyone ever tried this, and if so what were your results?

You dont really have to do all that, just paint using proper caliper paint and a foam brush - taking the wheels off gives you enough access to the areas that are visible. That's how I did mine.

sand blasting would be the best bet....or you could use a wire brush attachment on a drill to get off all of the loose paint... then d-etch the area you want to paint with denatured alchahol... then repaint and let dry

How did you mess it up with the brush? Did you lay the coat to heavily? I've never had a problem using the G2 kit (brush) If you take them off maybe some kind of acid bath or something to peel that paint.
