I know I've asked about IPS cams before but....

Here's my deal. I know that IPS cams are going to come out for our cars but I have no idea when. I also know that they are working with hondata, so there will be some sort of flash to go with them. I really want to get the hondata flash now, but I don't want to waste my money if the IPS cams are coming out in 3-4 months along with another flash. My question is if anyone knows any sort of time frame for when the IPS cams will be available? If it's gonna be 6 months to a year, I'll go ahead and get hondata now. I just don't wanna spend the money only to have them come out next month or something.

Thanks

Nate

Actually, funny enough, I emailed edo at IPS right after I posted this. He responded to me within 10 minutes (really impressive) with the message "Perhaps 3-6 months conservatively". It's always nice to see light at the end of the tunnel!

what you have to remember is that hondata only charges 200.00 to change your flash to another flash if your ecm already has a existing hondata reflash on it.

I seriously think Hondata is a rip off. Of course they can charge ANYTHING they want because there is no competition. $600 to reflash (what, 10 minutes of work) an ECU? $200 for an upgrade? For that price, you would think the first couple of upgrades would be complimentary, or at least below $75.

it's not 10 minutes of work, it's actually many hours of r&d towards mapping out or whatever the ecu to make sufficient gains on a set-up already highly distinguished. i hope that made sense.

I think what the OP means is that if the cams come with a reflash, there would be no point in spending 600 now for something he gets for free with the cams.

The cams will not come with the reflash for free. Maybe in a more expensive package, but not for free.

For si_civic Hondata is the leading programmer for our cars because they CAN do it well. There have been many other companies who have tried, maybe not on our 8th gens, but on older vehciles and Hondata has proven themselves time after time.
