So...I drive the piss out of my SI. I drive it hard, and I ****** love it. I do seem to have a slight problem grinding gears sometimes at WOT. Not sure if it's the anxiety, or something wrong with the car. It doesn't happen all the time, but more than in any other manual car I have ever driven. Is there anything I can do about this?? Would the Comptech short throw make it harder to grind gears?? Figured I would seek some advice before I **** something up. Thanks for the input.

When I first bought my Si I ground the gears some getting into 2nd. The comptech didn't seem to make it easier to shift. But a heavy knob did make a difference. I think it a timing issue. I have gotten better at it and now after a few months of owing my Si I can shift like a pro.

The problem gear for me is 1st. Sometimes it will literally slip out when I give it gas so it just grinds. So annoying. It's like I have to really shove it to get it to not grind but it does that like mainly after a long time of driving (well probably cuz I get tired like it happend today after my 3+hrs of driving..lol)

I posted a new thread in the mech forum, but is this TSB from Honda or from the NHTSA? Was thinking of taking my car in but wanted to have some backup.
Make : HONDA Model : CIVIC Year : 2006 Manufacturer : HONDA (AMERICAN HONDA MOTOR CO.) Service Bulletin Num : 1205 Date of Bulletin: DEC 16, 2005 NHTSA Item Number: 10018868 Component: POWER TRAIN:MANUAL TRANSMISSION Summary: TRANSMISSION GRINDS AT SHIFTS, SKIP SHIFTING. |

Yeah because I can grind it every time in 2nd gear. The reflash helps a bit but it is easy. Run it all the way to the limiter, around 8300 or so and then shift right before the limiter, I bet you will grind 2nd gear from first. Now go and shift right as you see the needle pass 8k and I bet you will not grind.. It is kind of weird but yes I have the same problem. I brought it in and my former work buddy is the forman at the shop, drove him in it, they took apart the gearbox and put some honda lube on the gears and it solved it for awhile but it is back with a vengence now... And I am on my way to the dragon meet in 2 hours lol =)
