Question Si owners i need your honest advice

Whats up guys i need your advice in something. I currently own an 04 Infiniti G35 Coupe automatic and really want an si. See i have already had the luxury and defenetely have the torque but i cant get my head out of the Si Coupe. I just love the 6speed tranny and im a previous honda owner so i miss the vtec feeling. I bought the g35 automatic thinking i was gonna calm down but it didnt happen lol im still a honda head. Now this is the thing the G35 has depreciated really fast so if i would change to an 09 si coupe id probably be paying the same ammount of money that i pay for the g35 since id be loosing money and upside down. The only thing that is holding me back is that id be losing the luxury, torque, and almost 300hp and usually being one of the fastest cars on the road. What would you guys do or how do you guys feel about this? Is it really worth giving up a g35 coupe with all the amenities for an 09 si coupe im 40% g35 and 60% si right now. HELP!!!

Wow! This thread is in reverse. Usually it's an Si owner wanting to get a G/Z. Hell, if you want a Si go get one. You'll miss the power, torque, and RWD, but the Si is soooooo much fun to drive. It also has to be cheaper in every way when compared to the G

My screen name surely states is all. My choices were G35 or Si at the time of purchase. I'm a tuner and knew i wanted to tune the hell outta the Si. I would have tuned the G35 as well but I did the math and it came out like this...

20g Si + mods = 30K very fast, fun, good lucking car
35g G35 + mods = 45k+ very expensive, + ^^^

With the G35, i'd be scared to drive it, scared to part is anywhere, and paying that much $$$ at my age would be stupid.
I love my Si to death! and I love to Rev Hiiiiiiiigh, who needs torque!!!

I'd say go for the Si. Like the post above, you'll save a lot more money in the long run and still have a very fun car to drive.

well, how much do you really use/need all of the luxury you'd be missing? The Si is really more like something Acura would sell than honda.I feel it has alot of nice, usful ammentities without costing like most cars that have them do.sure, you won't have things like 36 way adjustable seats but you gain alot too like reliablility(tranny problems an exception for some people)way better mileage,I'm sure the insurance is cheaper too.

You'll have to get use to not being the fastest car out there, and get use to people trying to race you,and cops that will pull you over for adding so much as an air freshener but other than that I'd say come on over to the dark side....we have cookies.

There you go clogging his mind with the silly Cobalt. He want a good looking car, not something that a 3rd grader designed.

What im confused about is how you are still upside down on a loan for an 04 G35... on a 60 month loan you should be in the last 12 months of your financing. At this stage of a financing term you should not be upside down

The Masterbator!!
Are you into modding? If so, I would say get the Si because it's a cheaper car. I would be afraid to mod a $35k+ car.

Ultra Man!
Why did you get your g35 with an auto!? That'd be my only problem. I assume you've test driven an si already so you know what sort of power you're going to lose. I love my si to death and love the involvement I feel with the manual and vtec in my ear, but I don't think I could justify the shift. I've never driven a car with any power that had an automatic, so I don't know how dissatsifying it is, but you're going to lose out on handling and power if you downgrade. I guess you would be getting a new car though! 5 years isn't a bad run.
Okay I'm getting really convoluted here. I say it all depends on exactly how much money you're going to lose on the trade in.

To the OP....would you really need to make alot of upgrades to the G35?You would'nt really need to make more power, maybe a little handling work if you wanted but I would think the only money you could really justify spending would be on looks IMO.

As the (prior) owner of both a year one G35 Coupe, and an '06 Si (own neither now), I can tell you a few things:

- PRO: Si will feel WAY more nimble than the G. It will take a bit of getting used to how much more you can throw it around.
- CON: Si will feel anemic compared to the G at the botton end. You will get used to it, however, you have to keep the RPMs up quite a bit more to keep it in a reasonable power band.
- PRO: Way better MPG on the Si (may or may not matter). However, at agressive driving you might go to 20MPG on the Si vs. the 12 or 13 on the G.
- Pro/Con: The luxury aspect will depend on you and your personality and needs entirely. I certainly missed some of the features and amenities of the G vs. the Si, you may or may not. Ride quality, creature comforts, etc., are nice and you may miss them. Image may or may not also play into this realm as well.
-Insurance: Hit or miss depending on your insurer. Insurance on my '06 Si was way higher than either my G or my current IS350. Go figure. It will depend on your age, driving history, and the particularly used by your insurance company.

Don't forget how fast G35s can go through tires.
