Question to ppl who had 3rd gear fixed...

anyone experience problems AFTER getting it fixed? i was talkin to the local dealer about it and im sure this guy was just trying to his way out of doing it for me, but he brought up points like the car will never be the same once you take apart the parts and put em back together and stuff like that. also telling me how they would need to replicate the problem(im sure many of you have heard that one). i know i want to sell my 08 si when im done paying it off so i wanna have it in optimal condition when the time comes, whether or not that means getting 3rd gear "fixed." can anyone give me some insight on this? or maybe any possible long term effects? thanks in advance

I suppose if you get a bad tech they could screw something up but it's not like the car was in a crash. Even so if the tech screwed something up I would think you would notice that in short order and be able to take it back to them.

I have about 150 miles on my fix and the only thing I notice is it shifts better into 3rd and has not popped out.

I have had the fix for over 10,000 miles, and it is still great!!

The popping out of 3rd gear is still gone (did not come back), and all of the other gears were unaffected by the fix.

I probably got a good tech.

Maybe you should go to a different dealer.

Got mine fixed a few months back and haven't had any problems since. Although shifting into second at high revs is still difficult. tends to grind. Shift slow and make sure your clutch petal is fully depressed and its alright. Wish there was a fix though.

I can't imange why any dealer would try to talk you out of it saying it may not work well afterwards.
My god dude, Honda pays the dealer to fix it. If your dealer tells you to your face it will be worse after they touch it, RUN! RUN! RUN! to a dealer who employs good mechanics.

They're just trying to talk you out of it. If a gear set is put back properly it should be just like factory... "it'll never be the same" if they screw it up, yes.

I've had the fix (via the TSB) since the first week it officially came out back in April. I was the first one at Pacific Honda, so the parts arrived the next day. Haven't had a problem since. 3rd gear works great. I don't have any issues with my other gears. I just got good service (imagine that huh?) from the service department.
