My vin is 7693 and Honda said NO! It's not covered. I have all the symptoms of the old program but can't get an update either. Hopefully there will be another update soon to help with this problem. I hate the hang and the cold stuttering. Good luck.

I think I'll end up sending my ECU to Hondata for the reflash... My local honda dealers don't know sqaut, I think it's sad...

I don't trust them touching my car with the responses I got from asking.

The service manager I spoke to says that if they flash a car which doesnt fall in the range, Honda wont pay them for it.

The guy above still got it done. I think you need to find the right service manager and convince them that you have a driveability problem with your car that needs to be addressed.

One dealer wouldn't even hook up their HDS to my car until I was like, "OK, give me Honda of America's main number" and I started calling them standing in the dealership with a bunch of customers around. They didn't pick up, but I still started talking like they were on the phone.

I was like, "Yes, this dealership won't fix my car, I have the service bulletin here, and it's under warranty." Immediately, they went and got their HDS and hooked it up.

Of course, I fall into the VIN range though. I am sure if you employ similar tactics, you could get SOMEONE to fix your ride.

Ya I have no problem being loud and talking **** to get what I want lol When I bought my car one of the wheels was damaged. They didn't want to give me a new one they just wanted to fix it but I didn't want a fixed wheel on my new car. Soooo I was arguing with them and when I said let me have Honda of America's main number. His response was come on Alyson why do you wawnt to do this lol I was like becauseeeeee I'm getting what I want. And yes I did end up getting what I want My honda dealer has a pretty good rep so they don't want to do anything to mess it up.

I have same scenario, my car is in the 9000 range so it falls WAY out of the VIN range, but it still exhibits some of the characterisitcs described. I went to the dealer and he basically said that he couldn't just do the reflash, but if I had a formal complaint about the cars performance, they could take it in, look at it, and most likely do the reflash as part of an attempt to fix it under warranty. Just an idea

I was going to print it and take it to the dealer because they said they had no clue about the reflash. But, now I'm thinking if I do that then it will just bite me in the ass since I'm not included in the need for update obviously. Any ideas?
My car falls out of the VIN range as well. My dealership told me they wouldn't do anything with the car unless they could get the problem to repeat itself with one of the service tech's watching. Apparently my car didnt act up that day and i didnt get it done. But there is something definately wrong when you shift at like 2.5k and the rpms jump to like 3k, dont ya think? They started to give me some BS like "Sir, you car has a rather large flywheel so a momentary hang like what you describe is normal" Oh well, it was a total waste of time, I got my sun visors replaced and a free car wash . I am going back again to get the hang issue resolved sometime this month. I seriously think more dealerships should poke around these forums, to get some ideas of what issues people are facing. I know whenever i call my sales guy with a problem, he always asks me what forum i saw my issue on, for reference.

I didn't even look at the vin on mine, I just brought it in and told them it surged when it was cold and had a bad rev hange and the rep up front just sent it back and they reflashed it with out any questions. Afterwards all I got was, "this my not fix the problem, let us know how it drives". I did have the check engine light come on for about a day the second of the new flash, it wasn't on before I got gas and when I drove off from the pump it was on. After about 20 hours, it went off and I haven't seen it since.

I took my Si in for the first gear bucking (and sometimes in second gear, unless I gun the gas) and the rpm hang on Aug 9. The HDS software version was 2.005.004. They did not give any problems about doing the HDS update on my ECU since I grought a copy of the TSB 06-052. Lately, I've been experiencing the bucking in first and a little worse rev hang. So I dropped it off Monday night so they could verify when the engine was cold, next morning. I also wrote up in the drop off paper that the Air Conditioner was not cooling as before. Tuesday at noon, the Service mgr called and verified and duplicated the bucking problem, and my AC was low in charge. They evacuated the system and recharged. They added a dye to indicate a leak (if there was one). Asked me to drive it a couple months and come back in for the AC inspection for leaks. But he also mentioned that quite a few cars from the factory were not fully charged when delivered. So I may not have a leak. As for the bucking, they asked me yesterday if they could keep the car overnight, and hook up the HDS and take a snap shot for Honda Tech per their request. There does seem to be a problem in my ECU. I also understand that the HDS softeware was updated, released on August 10 from 2.005.004 to 2.005.008. They may reflash my ECU with the updated version, depending on the snap shot they send to Honda Tech. Will update this story.

I'm in the 7400's and I had the reflash done about a month ago. Yes, my si still can buck like crazy in first at the lower rpms and still have rough shifts from time to time... but compared to the pre-reflash it feels a lot better.

I could def see why you're feeling like you still need a reflash, but I think it's something we just may have to deal with for the time being with the car being a dbw system and all

You said youo had your Si reflash about a month ago? They have newer updates since. Mine was reflashed on Aug 9. The bucking is still there, the rev hang is better. I dropped mine off this past Monday for the first gear bucking. The service manager called on Tuesday and verified the problem. They asked to keep the car another day, because the found an error in my ECU and was consulting Honda Tech, and will reflash with update software for their HDS. Will know more today.

sonitex, please keep us updated on this. Mine doesn't really buck any more (since the reflash), but you can still kind of feel the hesitation in 1st on a cold engine. Before the reflash, it used to buck like crazy.

Leaving my neighborhood, if I hit the gas to prevent the bucking, ladies used to wave me to slow down but if I just go slow then my car used to buck like crazy and it looked like I don't know how to drive a manual. I would rather drive a little faster leaving my neighborhood than to have the car violently jerk back and forth (which can't be good for the car).
