my vin falls under the range too...6h706167...but I made an "appointment" at Bianchi Honda, Erie, Pa for 8 this morning. What a joke. First, there is no appointment, you line up in the service docks, and then go talk to a service guy who takes your info, and lets you know how long it will be. In my case, they couldn't find any TSB or anything about it. So he goes and talks to the service manager and a service tech, and no-one knows anything about it. So they send me away with a "let us know if you get an actual re-call notice". I wish I would've taken a copy of the TSB, but when I called earlier they acted as if they knew what I was talking about. Drove an hour each way, too, so I spent $10 in gas to get jacked around by Honda. I'm very pissed...Why can't this company get their act together? INCOMPETENCE.

Just as long as you realize that the incompetence falls solely on the dealership, then you'll be fine.

Bring a copy of the bulletin as your backup. They can't possibly argue with you. When the service rep tried pulling up my car in the computer, he immediately said "your car doesn't have any outstanding bulletins or recalls". He immediately looked up the bulletin number and realized that he had no other way to argue with me.

Well, I'm not sure it is ONLY the dealerships fault. Why doesn't Honda have in place a better system for communicating issues like this to the dealerships? Why don't they have control over what dealerships do that can negatively affect the Brand Name? Irregardless, you are right, I dearly wish I had had the bulletin with me, but since they acted like they knew about it, I foolishly didn't think it was necessary. I complained via e-mail for the incompetence, but I hesitate to drive another two hours until I KNOW it's going to get fixed. Kinda gives me a negative feeling towards having a Honda, which I had not felt until this morning. There is a Honda dealer closer, but they are famous for being crappy in every aspect of being a dealership. 2 for 2 in my opinion. Wish I could re-do my dealership survey.

Well I think Honda already has a system in place...it's called Honda Interactive. The system is there to accurately pull up vital information regarding bulletins and recalls, amongst other things. But if a dealership is incompetent and unwilling to just listen to the customer for one moment, then you'll lose the battle. They usually pass off most complaints as normal jibber-jabber and tend to ignore you. It's sad.
I have no complaints of my own dealership and always recommend them, so I say you go to the closest dealership near you. This time when you bring the printed bulletin, there's no possible way they could turn you down.

Are there any instances of a vehicle outside the range of VINs given needing a reflash?
My vin ends in 711318. I took mine in for the reflash. They hooked it up, but the tablet said no updates available. I think any SI's after the vin cutoff already have the reflash. I have some rev hang, but nothing like some of the videos I've seen. Best bet if you don't wanna waste your time, is to not take it in unless your vin falls in range. My $.02

Well, the hang is bad enough in my car to bother me, reflash notwithstanding. It's to the point where my car will lurch when I shift from 1st -> 2nd, and 2nd -> 3rd, even with my foot off the accelerator. I find myself waiting a good 2 seconds before releasing the clutch if I want a smooth ride.

well, I got an interesting response from my dealership:

Hello Mr. "grcivisi06", I received your e-mail and tried to call you a couple of
times at ***-***-**** but it rang busy. Sorry about this morning. (name deleted) waited on you this morning and was not aware of the TSB 06-052
because it is fairly new and does not show up under a normal vin# status
inquiry like say a recall would when we check your serial number with
Honda's computer. I was not aware either and really had to do some digging.
Please call me or stop in and ask for me to get this taken care of for you.
It is about a 45 min update to your vehicle's pcm that should help but not
totally eliminate the problem. Thanks for your time and again I apologize
for the miscommunication.
Thank You
(name deleted)
Service Manager
Bianchi Honda

Nice they responded this way, and that they'll make it right. Moral of story, like mentioned above, is take a copy of the TSB with you.

J. M. back by popular demand!
I wonder if they will release a reflash that totally (as opposed to half-ass) fixes these issues?

Feel free to join the following thread:

DBW rev hang - Canadian fix. . .

Go see your dealer, get the issue documented, and call Honda Canada to make a complaint. I am also writing a letter to them regarding this issue.

I AM TEH ROX0RZ.

Perhaps I have the first Canadian reflash for the Si.

Good thing I left both the TSB, and the servicenews PDF in the car for the tech to read. I will post a video tomorrow for those doubters that think I'm just trying to get a rise out of the forum.

Here is what was written on the service invoice (don't have a scanner, sorry).

123099 Diag and update pcm software RBA040 to RBA050
FC: B02-091
PART# 37820-RRB-A03
19909 1.0 Roadtest to verify complaint update PCM software RBA040 to RBA050

Got it done at Dow Honda in Ottawa (613) 237-2777. Service advisor's name is Eric.

Go take a look at your windshield. It should be right at the base of your windshield on the driver's side.

Here's a video of how the throttle responds with the updated software (plus the mean sound of my AEM intake).

Sounds nice.

After seeing your vid, I'm convinced I need a reflash, despite my VIN being out of the range of "affected" vehicles. My throttle definately hangs in comparison.

I just got back from the Honda dealer where I got my one month old SI reflashed. I made my appointment earlier in the week expecting this to fix the rev hang and throttle hesitation issue.

It wasn't until earlier today that I saw the actual service bulletin with the VINs listed and mine was NOT in the range.

I'll say that again my SI was NOT covered under service bulletin 06-052!

I decided to go to the dealer anyway and see what they could do since I definitely WAS experiencing the problem. I even told them when I got there that my VIN was not in the listed range, but they said they'd check it out to be sure.

An hour and a half later (because they had to update their system with the new HDS version) I have what feels like a new car all over again. The PCM update did take, and the rev hang is almost completely gone. Driveability has improved greatly, it's so smooth now!

Cliffs: I have an SI NOT in the VIN range and the update did take and it DID fix the problem!
