Getting my Reflash done now at Honda Cars of McKinney, Tx

Scared at first though. I bring it in and explain there's an offical reflash from Honda. And the Service Manager INSISTED that it be put on the lift for the tech's to look at.. I was like NO! You don't need to man! lol. Anyway, I snuck back into the mechanic bay and talked to the technican.

Me: "You installing the reflash?"
Tech: "Yup"
Me: "Sweet"
Tech: "Yup"

Can't wait, when I went into talk to him, the console he was using to update the ECU was at 90% complete!!!!!

45 Minutes and 5 Reflash trys later, no go. Thier console they use has a faulty wire and keeps breaking the update. Have to come back (might try a different dealership).

Hope the bad updating hasn't ruined anything

Hey guys. Took my NBP Si in for the re-flash yesterday, and to get a faulty left front strut fixed (again for the 2nd time!!) Can't wait to get her back tomorrow to see how the car is after the re-flash. Will update when I get it back. I got my rental, and it's a POS Chevy Aveo!!! What a horrible car man!! I mean if that's all you can afford, but man, c'mon!!

That is all.

Well, I picked up the car today after the strut work, and the re-flash. So far so good with the noise I was hearing out of the strut. Now, the re-flash. In my opinion, you can really tell a difference in how long the revs hang now. It really feels like it's supposed to. Starts to go down as soon as you depress the clutch. Also, the bucking that everyone has been feeling when you're in first gear is almost completely gone!!! I was coming home in rush hour traffic, and it was a perfect time to test it out. Now, I really haven't had time just yet to really get on her, but it does kinda feel like the car has just opened up a bit more as well. Power is still the same, but I guess just feels like it should have to begin with. All in all, it was worth the time, and if you fall in the range, get it done. You'll be glad you did.

That is all.

If I could scan the document the dealership gave me, I will post it. The reflash is spreading across the country. I was skeptical at first, but my dealership now says, "bring it in on monday!" so that's whats going down in Minnesota.

Here is the service bulletin I got last Saturday from a dealer in houston. I went to have my car reflashed but got there 30mins before they closed (damn weed). I walked out and was getting in my car when I said, **** this and went back in there and made the service advisor print me out a copy of the bulletin.

At first he was like, I don't know if I can give this out and I was like, "Someone on the phone told me that you could flash my car today and now you're saying you don't have time. Either flash my car or print me out a copy of the bulletin so I can show my dealership (or the other two honda dealerships I passed on the way here). There is no way I am driving all the way back out here to get my car flashed." That dealership is like 20-30mins away from my house. Ironically, I am going back there tomorrow morning to flash my car.

Original scan was too big to post on here, this one is smaller. Enjoy.

I now whole-heartedly recommend everyone to get this update, which I did just this morning. The car runs sooo much better now.

This might be a repost, but how long does it take to have the reflash done, and will I be able to do the "come, reflash, leave same-day" thing?

The act itself of updating takes 10 minutes tops. I waited for only a half hour.

Do I need to reflash?

So I have about 900 miles on my car and I'm just starting to push it a bit, and I'm wondering if I need a reflash. When I shift it seems like the revs hang just a tad, all the way until 4th. The last 4 of my VIN = 8387.

Thoughts?

I think the better question would be, do you qualify for the reflash. I don't see the thread with the VIN's, but if you do, I'd say take it in and don't let them b.s. you.

What merits qualification for a reflash?

do a quick search on reflash, there is a thread showing the VIN #'s that can get the reflash.

708387. So I shouldn't need a reflash, correct?

Guys, I scanned and placed of copy of the official Honda bulletin on page 4 of this very thread. There you will see a list of the affected VINs.

Well, my vehicle isn't within the given VIN numbers, but under the "background" heading, it indicates RPMs not immediately decreasing as a symptom of the problem. When I shift, the RPMs do hang, if only very briefly, and when it starts to slow, it's pretty gradual.

Are there any instances of a vehicle outside the range of VINs given needing a reflash?
